M&P 9 Compact vs M&P 9 Shield: Speed & Accuracy

I shoot IDPA, using an M&P 9 Pro with Apex sear and barrel installed. Today, I wanted to compare my stock M&P9 Compact, to my M&P9 Shield, for speed and accuracy. I used American Eagle 147 grain FMJ, which shoots to POA at 7 yards on out, in both guns. Shooting offhand, slow fire, at 7 yards, the Compact will shoot into nickel to quarter sized groups. The Shield will shoot into golf ball sized groups.
I set up 4 paper plates and tried speed shooting fast into them and was surprised at how much more accurate the Compact was, compared to the Shield. I had almost all center hits with the Compact, with all shots on paper. With the Shield, I actually had about a third of my shots miss completely and very few in the center. Keep in mind, I was shooting at least two shots or faster, a second with both guns. The Compact was so much more accurate, I may start carrying that, instead of the Shield.

I found the same thing when shooting mine on BUG days; have to go slower and pay more attention when shooting the Shield.

That said, mine wasn't bought for daily carry. It's strictly a "when the back's out" gun.

I believe the 9c runs about as good as the f/s ones.

I don't have a Shield, but I was surprised at the accuracy and controllability of the 9c as compared to my PC 5" 9. I remember asking myself if I wanted to use the 9c for action pistol shooting. :) I haven't yet though. I'm still getting situated in that sport and nothing is settled yet. If it accepted a red dot I think I'd have it in my USPSA holster in a heartbeat. I can only hope for a PC CORE 9c. If they make it I know they'll sell at least one. :)

ATTN S&W: make a slide end cap that will hold the rear cowitness sight, and machine the slide the same as the model #10098 for a red dot. It'll sell to us old farts with lousy old eyes. Easy! You don't need to lighten the slide since it's already light, but if you want to port it that would be OK. That would give us the option of using the ports or buying another unported barrel which is what I do now to get into Carry Optics division. The same gun would be good for CCW with a 12 rnd mag and for comp' by using a 17 rnd mag with a spacer. It'll sell.
