Pro Trigger Upgrade?

This is a discussion on Pro Trigger Upgrade? within the MP Reference forums, part of the Smith & Wesson MP Forum category; I understand that the M&P pro series has an upgraded trigger, so that raised a question. Should I have it upgraded anyhow?...

There are much better choices available. The gunsmiths listed at the top of the page all do excellent work, and APEX Tactical makes a number of products that you can do yourself.

I have M&P40 pistols with APEX DCEAK,CompAEK and FSS Triggers and enjoy each of them. I have my M&P40 FSS on right now.

Thanks. Theres a guy who everybody around here recommends, especially for trigger work. He specializes in the M&P, I was going to have the gun sent out before I even get it home.

I currently have an M & P with the APEX DCEAK trigger. I am purchasing a M & P Pro 5" for IPDA. Which is a smother trigger the pro or APEX CompAEK.?

The APEX CompAEK is smoother and lighter than the M&P Pro trigger, with a cleaner break.

The Pro trigger from the factory is a joke. I changed mine on day one to the CompAEK and am now in the process of converting it to the FSS. Basically anything from Apex that you put in your Pro will make it better than the stock form it is in now.

I have to say that I was very disapointed with the trigger that came on my recent pro purchase but the Apex Short Reset trigger kit is well worth the money. If your going to shoot in competiton the factory trigger has the potentiol to cost you points we all know we're not perfet on every trigger pull so if the trigger is better than we can shoot better. Its still the same gun and ammo I'm just not yanking it low fighting the trigger. My 2 cents are that the trigger is not the worst thing for accuracy on the Pro its those horrific green sights. I'm old school and believe in the black on black sights with a bullet striking on the top of my sights, 6pm hold on the bullet hole not the target. but thats years of bullseye shooting. The green splotch covering your target does not help you define where the bullet is going. My pro was shooting the bullet to the very center of the green sight, many of you will say "yup thats what its supposed to do" but in doing so you cover your target. I want to hit a molicule sized spot on my target not just slam some holes in the x ring. I want the exact center of the xring to be gone, then when I miss by my wobble factor then I'm still shooting pretty good. When you cover the target all the way out to the 9 ring then you don't know where your hitting

That's not what it's supposed to do. Either means the front sight is too tall (rear sight too short) or you're not as good with an M&P as you thought.

Since the bullet leaves the barrel later in the recoil stroke (due to the longer barrel) the front sight should have been shorter. Seems to me S&W messed up by putting a taller sight on the longer slide.

Just replaced my 5" pro setup with APEX comp kit and have to say that it's night and day . Apex makes amazing stuff. Worth every penny
