Stippling voids warranty!

I spoke to a S&W rep yesterday inquiring about a magazine issue and asked if stippling voided my warranty and I was told yes. Why would something cosmetic that IMO doesn't effect frame integrity void the warranty? I don't regret stippling my M&P and would repeat the process in the future but that policy kinda sucks.

Has anyone had problems post stippling with S&W and warranty issues?

If a modification does not cause or contribute to a problem, then there is no reason why S&W would not honor the warranty.

I can see where they are coming from, some of these jobs have been a little heavy handed and could very well affect the structural integrity of the frame. I would think they would have to consider any frame issues on a case by case basis. If the stippling has nothing to do with a problem, they shouldn't discriminate against someone automatically.

Stippling voids warranty!

Thats why i only stippled my backstraps, pinky extension and frame tool. To avoid any warranty issues and on my shield i just threw on talon grips. I like to keep my guns stock as possible to avoid having to send my gun in for any issues that may b caused from putting aftermarket parts. Thats just my opinion. I also understand that s&w wont warranty a stippled frame

Its is their right to deny us free warrantied repairs on customer altered products but when you consider how many S&W products some owners have purchased it just to seems a bad business model to not fix problems caused by their manufacturing process. When it is clearly evident the customer upgrade/ addition/ alteration played no part in the issue in question I would like to believe S&W will have our backs.
No choice at this point but to roll on until this becomes a problem but when one of their customer service reps informed me of this it was discouraging news. If anyone has been turned away because of this I would like to hear likewise if anyone still received warranty repair with modification/alterations to original factory equipment I would also like to hear.
This isn't a deal breaker, I very much like my S&W products and think they have great customer service. I do think they have awakened and stopped being so quick to just give without questioning the legitimacy of all customer complaints.

Ive never had to send anything in to s&w but i mihht be sending in my shield because of manufacture defects in the finish of the slide and the serial number on the frame looks to be oxidized of some sort becuase my 9c serial number looks clean
