Really frustrated. I am sure I am not alone...

I started shooting about a year ago and I really really enjoy it. Now, in the wake of this last election and and some crazy sad tragedies a guy can hardly even buy equipment to reload or even factory ammo! I keep hearing this is temporary and things will get back to normal. Will it? I can't find primers, shell holders, dies, bullets, or factory ammo. :realmad:

My feelings exactly. This is the worst I've ever seen, but this to will pass, it will just take some time, the sooner the better!

This one is the worst I have seen as of yet. My local shop usually stocked over 600 guns. It was a local dealer for LE Glocks and S&W, but now they are stripped clean. As of last week there were only about 50 handguns, mostly low end stuff, bolt action rifles and double barrel shotguns. Ammo is gone. Everything is backordered.

It is almost like all of the manufacturers have just stopped making the stuff.

All this crap, and I was just about to start rolling my own .40 S&W and .357 SIG because I came into a press + goodies.

Go team brown, I've got a Herter's Super Model 234. I don't think I'll ever be able to break this press. I here tale I could swage "boolits" or load .50 BMG on it. Now I need to get some dies, since I don't shoot what it came with. I should sell that stuff off. I'm sure someone will want the .451 swage die considering those old swage dies always go for more than $100 on fleabay.

Shortages, suck. stock up before them.

Lessons learned.
Definitely learn how to reload and cast bullets.
You can have a safe stockpile without being seen as a hoarder at the stores.

If you typically use 1k primers per month, just by a box every other week. Do this until you have a year's supply. Buy an 8# jug of powder when you open up a fresh one, don't wait until your current jug is empty.

A year ago there were people who seemed like nuts when they said they had a year's supply of reloading components. They don't look very nutty now.

i live in MD and we can't even get our guns when we purchase them. our state law requires a 7 day waiting period on all regulated firearms as well as approval by our state police. the MSP approval (it actually comes back as "not denied" rather than "approved") typically only takes a few days, so after your 7 day period you can go get your gun and enjoy. right now they are backlogged so far that we're waiting 40+ days and still not hearing back from MSP. this is all due to panic buying caused by the proposed federal ban, as well as proposed bans by our gun grabbing governor. maybe they're just taking so long to give us time to try to hunt down some ammo :no

I think the worse is over and things are starting to catch up.

I was at Green Top just outside of Richmond this last weekend and their shelves are starting to fill back up with both guns and ammo.

They even had ARs in stock, as well as M&P Shields.

Ammo was limited to one box per person however. It was interesting to see a family of 5 all trying to buy a box of ammo, I can't say I have ever seen a 4 year old try to buy ammo before :)

They told me they had to limit ammo purchases because the gun show guys were buying it all up.

They did have GI AR mags for a ridiculous price, but they told me that their customers were begging for mags so they paid a premium to get them and were selling them at their standard markup. Fully understandable, I don't expect anyone to take a loss on something.

Maybe because you have to be 21 to buy pistol ammo?

I went to my lgs yesterday and could have walked the door with 2 boxes of 40S&W Blazer Brass or WWB, 2 boxes of 9mm Blazer or WWB, and 2 boxes of stingers with enough change from a C note to buy 2 combos at Carl's Jr. But these days are way too uncommon.

It's sporadic around here. Guns are in good supply and at least one store should have the specific one you're looking for. Ammo is still a bit difficult to come by. We're still paying "big name" prices for cheap ammo. But, things are starting to come back. Slowly but surely.
