Awesome customer service from Dillon Precision

I started having some minor alignment issues with my 550b after stripping it to clean and lube. So Tuesday last week (day before Christmas eve) I sent Dillon an email noting that I have had my 550b for more that twenty years and that just now started to have minor issues after tens of thousands of rounds produced. Explained detail stripping/cleaning/re-lubing blah, blah... They shoot back within 30min asking for my address! Remember this is two days before Christmas. I complied and figured I would receive something in the mail some time in the next couple of weeks. Yeah... Got a package today at noon. What's inside? An alignment tool and an upgraded crank assembly set. That's what I call service. I knew I made the right decision 22 years ago.

Have not needed customer service on my almost new 550B, but like knowing how great it is.

My RL550 is rapidly approaching its 30th birthday, I bought it in 1985, I have rarely needed anything, but when I did Dillon came through. Mine was an original 550 model (pre 550B), I added some of the upgrades like the low primer warning system in about 1990, last summer my low primer warning went out, since it was an electronic part that was about 24 years old I called Dillon to order another one, no credit card was needed as they replaced it no charge, hard to beat that!

Dillon sent me an alignment tool a long time ago, but personally I find it easier to just use the primer seating assembly to set the alignment since one of the most important things is that the primer seater is perfectly aligned, and using it is the easiest way to do it.

I used to think that about the primer arm, but the whole priming assembly can be moved/adjusted so it doesn't really work well for alignment. Granted it's not much movement, but it's enough to mess with alignment if used for that purpose. I think my crank yoke may be worn leading to excess slop. They must have suspected such and sent the crank kit.
The first day I had the press I broke some pieces in the primer system. I called them up and was clear that it was through my error that they broke. Didn't matter. They sent replacements for every broken item plus some spares in case it happened again. Never happened again, but still have spares in case my son or daughters make the same mistake.

Dillon is totally cool. Broke the crank arm on my 15 year old Square Deal, called Wednesday morning, it arrived Thursday afternoon. Haven't needed anything for my old 550 yet (1988). One thing I did do was use the 650 primer pickup tube (brass tip) in both loaders and never had any issues again with the split plastic tip. Dillon does not recommend this.
