Volume calculations for the Lee Double Disk Kit #90195

The sheet that came with my kit did not represent the disk, since Im an old head programmer for the early 1980's I put all the disk values in there own text file and wrote a Visual Basic 6 program to mash up the combinations to determine the total calculated volumes, without disk duplicates.

Here are the results:

I selected Alliant Reloader 10X since our local pretty much keeps it in stock, and its good for 55gn .223 and 147gn .308.

Using a Lee 1cc dipper, I weight out 13.6gn of powder.

According to what I am reading, I want to start with 23gn of powder drop.

23 / 13.6 - 1.69cc of desired powder volume

I then look for the closes match for my desired powder drop:

From disk 2 and 3 combinations, I find
.66 + 1.02 = 1.68

Placing .66 on top and 1.02 on bottom, the Lee Classic Turret is bumped twice by just bumping the charging handle,
this allows the powder to uniformly drop into the disk chambers.

I tested 5 drops and averaged the 23gn of powder I wanted.

Charges are validated with an RCBS Powder Check die, it wont give me exacting variance but thats not what its
designed for, its a "squib killer".. also if the plunger rod is too high or too low I know theres something going on
with the powder drop that warrants investigation.

So far, Ive created 5 out of 20 test rounds that will go over the chrono next week for velocity test.
(Time for dinner, Ill finish up later, no rush...)
