Which rifle is better the MP15 or the Bushmaster? Both would be in 16" Collapsible stock with the same sights. At the local store the price is about the same (within $50). They look abouth the same in workmanship and both have good reputations.

Honestly, given those two choices with near equal prices I'd pick the M&P every time. Bushmaster has had some QC problems in the past but it's nothing I'd worry about. I've just become so impressed with my M&P and S&W in general I'd rather give them my hard earned money.

Hey nut,

Before you put your money down check with C4iGrant, Grant at G&R Tactical. He just quoted my a GREAT price on the M&P15a. $70 less than the price I asked him to match (from Bud's Gun Shop), and he's one of the site sponsors too (the one in the middle of the list above /\ .)

Good gun, I'm buying one for myself,

Kevin.

Based upon experience at work with a statistically significant number of weapons, go with the M&P 15. We have some and they're performing in an outstanding manner. The brand "B" ones got turned into dedicated MILES weapons. That way, no one is betting their life on one.

Make sure the bore is chrome lined. I was astounded at the difference is service life.

What's a MILES weapon? I've got 2 Bushies, a 16 and a 20 inch, and have never had an issue with either of them. They each have about 3K rounds thru them and they're as accurated now as they were new. They are about 3 yrs old though so I can't attest to Bushmaster QC these days. All I can say is I got two good ones and I love them. Smith and Bushmaster are both good American companies that we should support, till the Dems put them out of business anyway. Good luck with whatever you choose. If you're new to the AR platform prepare to deal with BRD (Black Rifle Disease). Start a slush fund that your wife doesn't know about cause you're gonna be amazed at how many aftermarket gizmo's you're gonna want to buy.

MILES: Multiple Integrated Laser Engagement System. ie, Mil-Spec laser tag.

No offense, but your use of your weapons, so far, amounts to about a week and half of CQB training. Your usage and ours is much different. When we see brands that cruise on and brands that don't, we go with longevity. YMMV.

I'm not arguing with your recommendation, but I'm curious which statistical test you used?

More than 20 rifles of that brand (also Colt & S&W) were involved, thereby minimizing any effect of random chance, thus the comment. See the PM for other details. BTW, the "testing" continues.

+ 1 for Grant at G & R's deals on M&P15's. Ask Grant which one he would recommend (hope you don't like bushy's!). I won't say which is better. You will find die hard Bushmaster fans that swear by them. I don't like them. With out a doubt, buy the M&P.

Well considering this is an M&P forum, I would say that you might not get totally unbiased opinions here m39...

Just an observation.

You will see a lot of Bushmaster bashing on m4carbine.net, but there you will find lots of Colt fanboys. There is a really good comparison chart at http://www.m4carbine.net/showthread.php?t=6642

Both are fantastic rifles. I own one of each and a Rock River model. They are all Mil-Spec so technically they should be exactly the same except for the name stamped on the lower. You will probably be abe to get a better deal on the S&W thru G&R. You should've bought one before the end of April. S&W was giving a $100 rebate. After the rebate my new S&W M&P15 cost me $725. G&R Tactical will get alot of my business from here on out. +1 on the slushfund but, from my experience (and subsequent divorce) don't hide it. They think it's for your girlfriends and not just guns. Oh yeah, mine was alittle on the nutty side and liked the tequila.
