I think I have had a total of 3 FTF's in all of my 5,000 rounds. All three of them was when the gun was filthy after a day of 300-400 rounds on the range. I recommend it 100% as a plinker. Understand that its not a real accurate rifle out past 50 yards, but once you start you wont be able to stop.

Edit, to answer your questions;

Very Consistent

CCI Mini Mag

Good to 50 Yards, 6" groups at 100 Yards

Nice and light
Nope nothing bad here, just need a supressor on her now so i can hit the sqirles out my back door! that would be a blast ! haha

I thought the barrels on these were already threaded. Hmmm, I was planning on getting one, but that might slow down my purchase.

How much is it going to cost to thread the barrel?

This is from the Smith and Wesson M&P 15-22 Manual...

Based on the design and action of the M&P15-22, Smith & Wesson recommends that you use the following brands and types of .22LR ammunition for optimal performance in your M&P15-22 rifle:

• CCI Standard Velocity

• Federal American Eagle

• CCI Mini-Mag

• Federal GameShock

• CCI Stinger

• Winchester Super-X High Velocity

• Aguila Super Extra High Velocity

• Aguila Super Extra Std. Velocity

Smith & Wesson suggests that you fire several boxes of a recommended brand of ammunition through your M&P15-22 before you put it into regular use to determine reliability of ignition and performance of your ammunition. If “failure to fire” or other issues should occur, try different recommended brands and types until a reliable load is found.

Through our testing, Smith & Wesson has also found that there are several brands and types of .22LR ammunition that do not perform consistently or reliably. Consequently, Smith & Wesson DOES NOT RECOMMEND that the following brands or types of .22LR ammunition be used in your M&P15-22 rifle:

• Remington Golden Bullet

• Remington Thunderbolt

• Remington Target 22

• Winchester Wildcat

• Any and all sub-sonic brands and types

Please call Smith & Wesson Customer Service at 1-800-331-0852 ext. 2905 if you have any questions regarding the recommended ammunition and maintenance of your M&P15-22 rifle.

I love my 15-22. My son-in-law and grandson have fired it a couple of times and love it too. If there is a more accurate, or more fun to shoot, AR-type .22 out there - please don't tell me about it. I don't want to know.

I bought one for my son a couple of months ago, and it is crazy accurate. He has shot over 700 rds of american eagle through it with only one failure to fire ( bad round im sure). Only issue was the bolt after about 500 rounds failed to lock back when empty, picked up a couple of new mags and works perfect now. I want one suppressed.

The only thing I don't like about mine is if you put any pressure on the barrel/rail system you push the barrel up or down....

It's not a floated barrel and because it's all polymer the front end flexes very easily....then accuracy goes out the door...

I really hate this issue BTW....other that that it's one hell of a rifle...!

I bought one for my daughter and we are loving it. She regularly shoots good groups at 75 yards. We ran about 700 rounds thru it in the first week

I'm looking into buying one soon. Just trying to decide between the base model or the MOE model.

I like mine. Accuracy is decent but nothing to write home but plenty good enough for fun plinking. The biggest weakness is the way it flexes if you use a shooting sling. All that said it's a fun little little 22. I have 8 other 22s for precision target shooting and bought the M&P15-22 as a money saving training tool, a job that it should absolutely shine for. I've added Rock River Arms 2-Stage National Match trigger and a Weaver V3 1-3x 20 scope in a Burris P.E.P.R. mount make it a good economical training stand-in for one of my AR15s with a Geissele SSA and Burris XTR 1-4x24.

Federal bulk box and CCI Mini Mags ran flawless. Winchester bulk box isn't worth having for my rifle although some have had no issues with it. Over all I love the gun and the wife loves shooting it.

I agree with everyone that the Winchester bulk just doesnt work for this gun. I've had mine for over 2 years and 1000's of rounds. I call it the "giggle gun" because everyone that does a full mag dump with it cant stop laughing it's so much fun. Right now it has a red dot and a bi-pod on it and is being used to teach a few little gunners proper trigger work and range rules.

I think the M&P 15-22 is the "funnest" gun I've ever shot!

Mine runs fine with everything except nasty old Winchester from Wally World. I got several FTF's in the first few mags with that junk so I gave the rest of the box to a kid next to me at the range who was low on ammo. It even works great with Remington Golden bullets. Federal Bulk pack, Auto Match, whatever else; so far it likes everything. The 15-22 is by far the most fun .22 rifle I ever had and I have had a bunch. As others have said, it is addictive; I have added a carry handle, a Red Dot, a 3X9 scope and put a USGI silent sling on it.
