M&P 15-22 optics??

Found a used 15-22 at the LGS for $300 put it on layaway just to do some homework on it. looks brand new no dings looks perfect to me.. I was actually looking for a 10/22 but just fell in love with this little thing.. I think ill be a great training tool for my wife and daughter..

Anyways for those that have one? Is it worth putting a good quality optic on it? Is it capable of good groups?
I'm thinking of either the redfield tac22 or the Bushnell ar22 I believe they are both 2-7x
Or if the accuracy is just so so, should I just put a Bushnell trs25 on it and call it good??
I do prefer scopes on my rifles but not sure what this thing is capable of..
Also can't wait to put a Magpul grip and stock on it to match my Stag Arms m2..
Any tips appreciated will get it out in a few weeks..

I would not put scope on it, but rather a red dot. I have an Ultra dot AV on line and it is a hoot to shoot. Very seldom do I shoot it past 50 yards. I have a scoped 10/22 for that.

I love my 15-22. It also makes nice groups. I just have a red dot on mine and it works for me. I shoot Steel Challenge matches with it. I only shoot mine out to 25 yards. It is a great rifle. It was my first AR. I enjoyed it so much I bought a "real" AR afterwards. So now I have my baby AR and my real AR. Both happen to S&W's.

Just a red dot on mine as well. You're gonna love that little beast. And unlike my M&P 22 FS, my 15-22 will shoot any ammo without issues.

The 15-22 is an awesome plinker & is capable of tight groupings. I have the moe & I put a primary arms micro red dot on it. It's a compact & lightweight set up. It's so fun to shoot.

Update, I'm really enjoying this little Plinker, I ended up getting a Bushnell TRS-32 (bigger than the 25) only reason was it was on sale for $60 normally $140.. I was a bit disappointed at first because it fte once or twice each mag.. Figured out it was a pretty common issue and probly why I got it used and cheap. First owner I guess had a bad experience.. No biggie I called S&W and they took care of the issue (extractor pin) I think.. And they even sent me a free magazine..
Took it back out and it ghas fired at least 2000 rounds without a hiccup.. And I'm using bulk Remington Goldens and Winchester333 boxes..
So far I have added a Magpul CTR stock, MOE grip, and AFG2 grip.. Absolutely love this rifle..

In the photo it has the Moe base stock, didn't like the wobble so I got the CTR, n haven't installed the afg2 yet..

I don't have the S&W but I do have a CMMG 22 rimfire AR, I have a Bushnell red dot on it, some of my other 22 rifles have low power variable scopes on them. My Savage 22 bolt action has a Redfield Tac 22 Battlezone 2-7x scope, that's a scope made for 22 rimfires and a nice quality choice.
