Removing front sight post on M&P15 Sport.

Can someone help me to the right direction? I have been trying to remove the pins on the front sight post but had no luck. Aside from cutting it, any idea how to easily remove it?

The front sight post unscrews from the top, are you referring to the front sight assembly including the gas block?

If that's what you intend to do, see here:
Assemble your own LOWER, UPPER, FREE FLOAT, TRIGGER, GAS BLOCK - Step by step instructions! - AR15.COM

Scroll down to this part:
Install your own free-float rail system, step by step:

There are important details in there about the pins.

Yep, that's what I meant.
I tried removing the pins but with no luck. I read it somewhere that M&P front sight assembly pins are installed on opposite direction.

If they are tapered, if you look closely you can usually see that one side is bigger than the other, therefore you can see which way the taper runs so you know which way they come out. I've dealt with a few, but on the ones I've worked with there wasn't any taper, but none of those were S&W.

They are tapered, and they are backwards from what is the normal way you would remove them. They require a fair amount of force to remove, and the Brownells front sight block gives a little extra support when removing them, but it is set up for the standard pins, so you have to flip it over to the installing side when you're removing the pins.

Use a brownells front sight block & a heavy duty punch set. It will take quite a bit of force to punch the pins out but these tools will make it a lot easier.

I worked a long time trying to remove one of these pins till I put a micrometer on it -- they go in from the left side. Why S&W would be backwards from the rest of the civilized world is beyond me but it has to be related to cost effectiveness somehow.

Most can be tapped out with a hammer
Some need a bigger hammer
Fewer still need a Big Freakin' Hammer
and one or two need a hydraulic press.

Some are bass-ackwards, don't know why they do that, some just have to be different.
