SHIELD 9MM BARREL FITS IN SHIELD 40

Just to let all Shield 40 owners know the 9mm barrel will fit in the Shield 40 slide. This swap can not be made for 40 barrel into the 9mm slide, as the 40 S&W barrel will not fit into the 9mm slide. This swap of putting the 9mm Shield barrel into the 40 Slide had been backed up by several seperate people with with video to back it up. Some have used the 9mm magazine inserted in the Shield 40. Others have found they could load the 9mm cartridges into the Shield 40 magazine and it fed fine. All have been fired on the range with no problems. This would allow Shield 40 owners to fire cheaper 9mm ammo amd also reduce felt recoil for practice purposes. The problem is that nobody makes the 9mm barrel, except S&W, and it will be a long time until S&W releases the barrels to dealers like Brownells, etc. The only aftermarket M&P barrel makers, KKM Precision and Storm Lake have been contacted regarding them making the 9mm barrels and their answer was nothing was coming in the near future, if at all. The thing that would concern me is this: like their bigger brothers, the chamber hoods on the Shield barrels are different on the two calibers, with the 40cal being wider than the 9mm. that would mean when at "battery", the 9mm barrel would not be locked in place, like it was designed to be in it's respective frame. Just because you can do a thing doesn't mean you should. Any other thoughts on this issue......

Nope, that's pretty much iit. Incomplete lockup is not acceptable in any firearm, and youtube can't change that.

I can't believe we're having this conversation again.
