| Strange part came out of barrel when cleaning??
Just picked up my 9mm and proceeded to do it's initial cleaning/lubing. When I ran a patch through the barrel, the piece in the picture came out the other end. Kinda looks like part of a brass ring. Wondering if it's something to be concerned about?? Anybody got a clue? photo.jpg |

Does not look like anything important. Is it solid brass? What is it made of? The parts by the slide and barrel are mostly straight or bent metal. Could it be a part left after it was test fired at the factory? When you look down the barrel (from both ends) does it look like there is a chunk missing? Very odd.

Looks like brass but old brass... dark color on some/most parts of it and jagged edges. Barrel looks good from both ends. Definitely odd... was real surprised when I seen it.

That's a piece of case neck, probably (but not necessarily) from an overly processed reload.

I would guess it's brass from the casing or copper from a jacket used during the factory test fire.

| Initial Cleanning
This is just one of the many reasons to clean a new gun B4 firing. Can't imagine what would have happened if you didn't clean it first.

It must have been part of a shell casing as a few of you have said... went to the range today finally and shot 200 flawless rounds. And yes GtownGeorge, glad I did the initial cleaning! Sweat gun!! Can't wait to shoot it some more! |

Looks to me like a piece of the rim of the test firing cartridge. Good thing you cleaned it first!! That probably would have left a mark!! |

I doubt it's part of the rim, since thats the part of the base on which the extractor catches (never enters the chamber, unless you're loading cartridges in your magazines backwards). More likely it's part of the the case mouth.
