I installed the Apex Hard Sear in my M&P 40 Shield yesterday and took it to the range today. The factory trigger weighed approximately 6.5 lbs and was okay. After installing the Apex Hard Sear, it is now a very smooth, crisp 4 lbs with no over travel and an unbelielably quick reset. Shoots great now! SWEET!! ![]() Thanks for the installation video Randy Lee of Apex!! Nice work. Lots of help!! |

Installed the FSS sear and striker block in one of ours, along with pretravel and overtravel stops. Ended up putting in the heavier DCAEK TRS because at 4 lbs. it seemed too light for a pocket carry gun (jacket pocket).

I put the sear in both my M&P45FS and my M&P9C and love them both now. Curious why the sear for my 45 was named "Hard Sear" and the one for my 9C was called "Fully Machined Sear"

| While lighter is better on a competition gun, I draw the line at about 4 lbs for a gun that I carry. I carry my Shield, so I just replaced the sear. That modification takes the trigger to just about how I prefer a carry gun. |

Putting an Apex kit into my .40 Shield yielded a pull that's really smooth but is still 6.0 lbs., a bit heavy for my liking. I'd heard that going back to the original springs yields about (-).5 lbs (sear spring) and about (-)1.0 lbs (TRS) so I put the S&W sear spring (original part) in the .40 and that brought the pull down to 5lbs, 11oz. Better but still kind of high. So, I'm considering also going back to the S&W TRS which should put me somewhere around 4-3/4 lbs. Is this consistent with other's experiences? |
