I just bought my new shield 40 tonight and instead of reading the manual I field stripped my new gun. I put it back together and now I cannot get the slide to lock. I also cannot see a yellow takedown lever either. Is this new gun going to be headed back to the factory?
Lesson learned the hard way. When putting the slide back on, Lock it back before you try to swing the take down lever back in place or its possible for the slide to fly off the frame due to the tight recoil spring.
I had a hard time with my slide on mine also .Like Cola said
it will loosen up the more rounds you put threw it.I also put
a dab of Gun grease on the slide this really helped mine .you can
buy the graase from Midway USA or if you have a Rual King also has
it back in there Gun section.dry fire with snap caps will help to loosen
It up also.you get this pistol broke in you will love it.I really like mine
Take Care and good luck
