If the Shield had never been made...

What would your EDC gun be? I think I would pick the CZ 2075 RAMI. Yeah, it's pretty porky and heavier than the Shield, but if it's anything like my CZ75 it will drive tacks, hold 10 or 14 +1 (depending on the mag) and it's just one cool looking pistol.

I've been using a M&P 9mm for this long, I'd probably stick with that or a LC9 (or 9S Pro, I'm going to go along the lines of, if another competing 9mm is made, also). My wife has an LC9 and it is a very nice gun.

I originally bought a 9c for EDC but then the Shield came out. It carries so much nicer.

I too had a M&P 9 Compact that the Shield replaced. I would probably cycle between the M&P 9c and Glock 26 and in the winter, my G19 in a Serpa holster.

Before I got my Shield, I was pocket carrying a PF-9.
Seeing as Ruger didn't even think about putting a Striker into the LC9 until several years after the Shield came out, I doubt if they would have even developed an LC9s (or Pro) had the Shield never been made.

As I've mentioned in numerous other threads, my other consideration, that I might have gone with, would have been the XD-S.

I'm still hoping hat Glock will come out with a Single-Stack 9/40 soon.

I'd still be carrying my '9c, or my Kahr CM9.

Oh, wait; I still carry them.

Since they're both great pistols; I haven't had any need to buy a Shield.

I'm just glad the S&W M&P40 Shield was made, so I don't have to come up with an answer to these silly "what if" scenarios.

I'd probably go with the Glock 26. It's fatter but a reliable gun with more ammo. I owned a .45 XDs and had horrible reliability issues with it but I might have just gotten a lemon. I shipped it back to SA 3 times and eventually got it running right for the most part but I always had that worry in the back of my mind so I sold it. I also might have looked into the 9mm version of the XDs if the Shield wasn't around...even with the issues I had before. I know many others that are quite happy with theirs.

Whatever. Next time I'll just start another "Shield slide is hard to rack" or "What Holster do you use?" or "Shoots low/left" thread.
