Look on youtube. Look for... Shooting the bull 410. That guy is good. He tests defensive ammo just like the fbi does. As for me i use critical defense 115 grain ftx. The one with the red tip. This is one of the better ammo for self defense that he has tested but there is better. I just can't find any around here. My shield shoots anything so far.

By the way this ammo was tested with a 3 inch barrell. Ours is 3.1 so it's very close.

Federal HST 147 standard pressure in my 9c. Would carry the same if I had a Shield.

The HST 124 standard pressure is my second choice for carry. I'm very comfortable with either. I don't do the +P thing any longer.

Call your local PD and ask that question. Seriously, If they use it you should too. No prosecution lawyer will ever be able to find fault with that. Or they won't pursue it; if they do they'll look very foolish.

+1. The Doc has done his homework. That being said, I carry Federal HST in both my 9 and 40 Shields.

Interesting that you suggest watching the ammo quest and then pick one of the ones that failed by over penetration in the denim tests. IMHO, I would have picked one of those that passed.

Oldfart you need to go back to youtube and watch it again. Critical defense 115 grain ftx. Average denim test was 13.00" with not one overpenetrating. As far as gel goes without denim the measurements were 12.00, 12.50, 12.75, 13.00 ' and 13.75

my apology, you are 100% correct, I might have been confused with the .380 which did not do so well with the shooting the bull tests, Thanks as I now have another backup to hst and gold dot +p. I also may have been confused by the critical duty. sorry, I jumped the gun so to speak
