Not an endorsement! I have not personally seen or used this item, but it may offer a solution for a problem that is commonly reported, particularly on the smaller pistols like the Shield.

I'm glad to see that there are so many BIG STRONG MEN here, but for those that aren't I highly recommend a handy racker.
I can rack the slide on my 9mm if I have to but these 83 year old hands are not what they use to be.
I find the racker particularly handy when working on the gun. (Cleaning etc.)
After cleaning and lubing, I like to work the slide multiple times to spread the lubricant and make sure everything is working.
It's a whole lot easier with the racker>:yes

I can totally see it if the gun is used exclusively at the range. But for me, if it's used for self defense and I can't rack the slide without one of these, I'd check into another gun.

I was going to suggest that use, Bud. You beat me to it. Please allow me to berate folks for you.

Folks don't know what the elderly can and can't do and they tend to just think of themselves. Selfish really when you think about it.

It's like the new Carry Optics division in USPSA action pistol. Everyone who didn't need it talked it down. Those of us who needed it gave thanks. Folks just don't think of others anymore. "Yay Me! And screw everyone else!".

GOD help our 2nd Amendment rights with thinking such as that.

You see insult and selfishness where there is none. The Shield is arguably a difficult pistol to rack. The point made was that if a person is using it for a defensive weapon and has a hard time racking it, why not look to an easier gun to work with. If you choose to fall back on emotion and name calling, and have a need to feel slighted then don't let logic stand in your way.

Read the responses.

If I'm wrong, then I stand corrected but in rereading the responses, no, I was correct with my response. I didn't see other guns that are easier to rack being suggested ( a revolver was suggested to that gents credit). That would have been appropriate since the OP was about the Handi-racker. Instead there was inappropriate humor re: a subject that can be quite difficult for the elderly, a reference to noobs, and "finger teeth", whatever. If someone wants to take offense to what I wrote then maybe there is some guilt there. But my response didn't paint everyone, just a few. The paint sticks where it needs to.

I was wrong in one respect though. Selfishness wasn't the proper choice of word. Self centered would have been a much better choice of wording. For my inappropriate choice of words I do apologize, that was wrong of me.
