Unhappy Hard time getting used to Shield.

I bought a new Shield 9mm about 5 weeks ago and the first time shot it good, for me anyway, had a horrible experience with it the second 50 rounds due to a broken magazine spring and this time after replacing the spring in the magazine had zero failure to feeds, but, I had three failure to fires. They did fire on the second attempt though. My question is: is it the gun not firing the ammo or just the ammo not firing? Like I said, it fired the second time I pulled the trigger. It happened three times out of fifty rounds. It was Federal ammo that I got at the gun range,so it wasn't reloads, nor was it the expensive stuff. I am new to shooting, (5 months once a week) especially S&W, I do have a Glock 19 & 23 and have about 2500 rounds though them without ever any failure of any kind, so I'm confused as to be blaming it on the gun or the ammo for the misfires. Why would it not fire the first time but fire the second pull of the trigger?

Sounds to me like you have a dirty striker channel.

Possibly some of the cosmoline used in shipping in the stricker.
Did you field strip and clean it prior to shooting it which is the common practice with a NIB weapon.
