M&P 9C Light strikes

I bought a used 9c and have had trouble with light strikes since i got it. I sent it to Smith and they replaced the recoil spring. Didnt fix the issue. I went ahead and got an apex fss and trigger installed and had my gunsmith look for issues while installing. Couldn't find any. I went to another gunsmith and he put in a new striker assembly. 10th round went light. It appears that the strike may be a little off center but hard to tell. The gun doesnt go into battery well. It does fine when i release it hard but it wont go when ridden. I know you arent supposed to do that but i own other pistols and none have that issues. It doesnt happen consistenly but enough to be frustrating. Any opinions on what the strike issue is? Could it be trigger bar loop? Could it be it not totally going into battery? Just not sure where to look next. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

So are you only getting light strikes when you ride the slide or even when you let it go into battery without riding the slide?

Sorry, I should've clarified. It happens all the time, but generally in the middle of a magazine. It never happens on the first round. I have never actually fired a round after riding the slide forward. I just notice that while cleaning.

Possible causes in no particular order:

Ammo
Bad Striker
Dirt/oil on FP channel
Weak Striker Springs
Striker Block not moving completely out of the way (so loop is possible)
Out of spec Striker Block

The fact that happens in the middle of a of the mag might be coincidence. However, if not chambering all the way, then the FP would push the round forward and thus lose energy to strike the primer. Thus it could be a chamber dimension/dirt issue.

There are way more knowledgeable folks here than I. My light primer strikes were due to reduced power striker springs. I get the occasional one now, but that is probably a high primer.

The striker block being out of time with the sear releasing the striker could be the problem.

My 9c, which I installed an Apex sear and striker block in, has never had light strike issues. None of my other M&P's have either, and all but one have been modded with Apex parts.

Have you removed the siriker assembly, and checked that the channel is clean and free of oil?

I'm sure it's something you'll be able to track down.

lhawkns,
Gave a very good list.

First thing I would do is check for dirt or brass in the striker channel especially around the striker hole. If clean work you're way down the list. Plenty of YouTube video's on all of it.

I had had light strikes from Glock, Taurus and S&W striker fired handguns. Far more than from hammer fired ones. IMO, Taurus has it right with their being able to double strike the primer. Glock and S&W should consider making their handguns have this. I would guess its OK to have a light strike when you are in a group, squad or several other policemen with you to cover while you pull the slide back to fire again, but in the bedroom and no backup its a very bad thing.

I will trade you even up for my Taurus TCP for either a Glock or an M&P

So, I have tried seceral brands of ammo, the channel is free of debris and oil, and the whole striker assembly and recoil has been replaced with new factory parts. My next question is, do i want to open or close the loop? It doesnt appear that the sear rotatates a full 180 degrees. If i open the loop to engage the sear sooner, will it throw off the timing in the striker block? I guess my question is, how do I know if its the loop or the striker block causing the light strikes?
