Question For Shield 9mm Pro Apex trigger options

I would like to get some information from experts here on trigger options for my : M&P Shield 9mm PRO.,
I would like to know what changes to PROFORMANCE CENTER SHIELDS members have made with Apex trigger options. I am looking to take my PC safety plunger out and polish the plunger hole and also polish the trigger bar.My question is if I am going to do this would the PC improve much with a Apex kit and new trigger or will I not get much gain for the effort and money I will be spending on the Apex kit.

All comments would be gratefully appreciated.

Thanks Bullstone

I'd like to know this also. I polished my block on my Glock after installing the Ghost trigger bar, and it really helped the trigger a good bit. I also am wondering if this could be done as a viable option to purchasing the Apex kit?

I apologize as I have normal shield.
I polished the striker block as well as the contact point on the trigger bar that contacts the striker block. I purchased the apex sear only.
I think my trigger is awesome!! Smooth, crisp, and easier to shoot well for me.
I did all my polishing by hand with some mag wheel polish and an old t-shirt. It took a while but I didn't want to risk overdoing it.

I installed the Apex aluminum Glock style trigger, Apex sear, and the Apex sear spring. While it was apart I polished the contact points on the trigger bar for the sear, the sear block, striker catch(?), and the edges of the sear. I used a dremel with a felt wheel and simichrome polish to just very lightly polish the areas without removing material.

To guess I would say the trigger breaks at about 5.5 lbs which is perfect. The break is very crisp. I actually think that overall the break is a bit better than my Geissele 2 stage in my SCAR 17 but with a slightly heavier pull.

I got the Apex sear block with the kit, but I'm not sure if I'll install it. If I decide to get Trijicon sights I'll have it installed. Depending on the feel afterwards I might install the Apex trigger return spring that came with the kit.

Did all that, and polished the plunger also, it helped but did not get me where I wanted to be, bought the Apex kit and that nailed it, huge difference. We are all different, try the polish and if not happy then go apex. I did buy the full kit with the Apex trigger but chose to put the stock trigger back in, for some reason I like the Apex kit with the stock trigger.

For the standard model shields... polish the trigger bar where it meets the safety plunger. Remove the machining marks and round off the flat on the plunger and then polish until super shiny. Debur and polish the plunger bore. Just install the APEX sear, IF, you really think you need it. Keep the OEM springs in the gun. If you need more than that, then you should have just bought the performance center shield to start with, it would have been alot cheaper vs APEX kits and APEX triggers, additionally nicer sights to replace the cheesy standard sights.

Exactly what I did but did not install the Apex sear. I'm not suggesting the full Apex trigger job isn't worth the expense or effort but I'm totally satisfied with the results of my polishing as described above. My Shield 9 is a defensive gun which will unload 11 rounds (with MagGuts +2) within a few seconds if asked to. What more do you need?

I had ordered a Apex carry kit with trigger on Monday. But somehow I ordered the one for the regular M&P and not the shield. It says on the package it will not work on the Shield, but after a little research I found the only thing that did not interchange in the kit was the trigger itself being to wide. I thought well let us find out. I changed the block and block spring, and put on my new Truglo TFX night sights. The sear and the sear spring was a perfect fit. As well as the 4lb trigger return spring.

Every thing is back together now, I will have to say the improvement is very noticeable. Much smoother with a very crisp break. I look forward to the weekend to get out and shoot it more.

Replace the trigger... w/APEX ABSOLUTELY YES, you`ll love the APEX trigger.
Nothing gained with replacing the sear in the PC shield, it already comes with the APEX sear.

I got to shoot it some today, it is a nice improvement. Smoother and a little lighter! It was what I was hoping for. It wasn't bad to put in and everything worked except the trigger, being that I ordered the wrong kit. I could have sent it back and got the other kit, but I would have had to waited another week. I am not that patient.

I hear that....lol. Glad it all worked out for ya. I would just jump on ebay an buy just the trigger... the APEX polymer trigger works AWESOME, and 1/2 the price of the aluminum apex.
The APEX trigger itself is simply amazing. I`ve installed them in some friends shields and they LOVE the apex trigger.
