Shield goes for 11 to 12 rounds?

I have started a experiment.

I bought one of these baseplates that takes the mag to 10 rounds WITH the stock spring.

https://hyvetechnologiesbuilder.com/.../shield-9mm-2/

Then I added a magguts spring that allows one to add a extra round OVER the stock spring max.

In theory that gets me to 11, 12 with one in the tube.

Got 11 in the mag last night with ease, still has some nice tension and some downward play when I push the top bullet down.

I do have concerns about the spring staying aligned in the base-plate.
If the spring is long enough to maintain the proper tension and
if it works long term.

It does feel right though, strictly range for now but I hope to get out there sunday and blow a 100 rounds though it.

I shall file a report once I do.

(Worse comes to worst I just put the baseplate back with the stock spring and use the maggut in another mag, no real downside here in trying at the range)

Second test with my 11 round hybrid 9mm Shield mag, 200 rounds, not a hickup, that is likely it this year winter and all.

Now on to long term reliability, I will leave it fully loaded all winter and see if it still functions 100% next spring.

Buying an extra mag would be the wiser choice...
it would be far cheaper, and also you`d be carrying more ammo...lol

I guess i`ll never really understand why people do what they do...
go backwards just to go forwards again...lol

because they can. Just like mountain climbers. To each their own.

I have considered buying one of the HYVE base plates for my shield, because I'm trying to ditch it off on my wife and if I can 'make it pretty', then she might take it off my hands so I can get a PerformanceCenter version.

Other than that reason, I would rather just carry an extra mag.

I do see a reason for the larger +6 type OPEN GUN base plates tho. There is big money in those competitions so it makes sense to have the added rounds and shave the reload time.

I hear ya... some people have more money than brains i guess...lol.
All that fancy larger capacity stuff is good for the comp stuff, but worthless for concealment...
i guess THAT was the point i was trying to make without saying.

Pretty harsh, studies have shown that most gun fights involve the ammo that's in the gun when the fight starts. Knowing that I'd rather start with 11 than 8.

Sorry my experiment does not meet your intellectual standards or economic demographics.
