Question Reccomended Acessories for the Shield .45?

So I am currently looking around for Shield 45 accessories and attachments - Shield stuff is hard enough to find and it seems that half the stuff only works on the 9/40. - I have just ordered the fire arm and this is what I am doing with my anticipation.

I know there are things that I have not found (probably from shops that I do not know about) and I would like some advice - hell just post what you have done to yours and what you know about.

I am interested in anything outside of the realm of holsters -plenty of holsters to be found both for it with stuff on it, and for the bare gun.

I'd like to know what modifications, attachments, accessories and upgrades that are out there - even if I don't end up getting them, I'd like to know in case I ever change my mind - knowing what options are available better expands what choices I can make that best suit me, my comfort and my personal intended use - something I always do when I first get a gun is know what is available for it. But this is one of those "hard to find stuff" guns - Hell I have had a hard time finding FACTORY replacement parts for the 45 shield

Thanks in advance!

Welcome to our little corner of the web!

The primary accessory for any auto pistol is a magazine loader, the UPLULA works great and is a universal mag loader for almost all 9mm and up caliber pistols.

Shop around, they can often be found cheaper than this.

Only accessory I added was ditching the flush mags and buying 4 spare extended mags. Didnt need to add texture like on my 40 as S&W supplied ample stippling on the 45.

I might end up getting it in 9mm as well if I can, ugh buying a new gun is so fun but anxiety inducing. My first S&W so I hope it's a good first choice.

I looked up quite a bit, even some things that I would never use on a carry pistol

Here is a list if you guys have any input about any of these for ANY of the shield models.

* Springs (recoil/guide rod, etc..) [
* 3rd party , Poly/transparent, or extended magazines or drums (lol)
* Magazine extension/spring for facotry magazines (For the 45)
* Replacement Slides (Maybe the ported Performance ones, or ones with rails)
* Threaded Barrels AND/OR Fluted Barrels for .45 Shield (A fluted threaded would be ideal of course if possible - probably going to need a gunsmith for this of course)
* Replacement Stock .45 Shield Barrels
* Extended/Better shaped Mag Releases
* Custom Rear Plates (like the etched ones, or the "Tac Rack" )
* Grip Backstrap Plate (Upgraded/Rubberized/G10/Skeletonized/Etc..)
* Picatinny Rail for the Dovetail Sight Slot (Rail hopefully doubles as BUIS)
* Magazine Couplers (Side-By-Side, OR, Base-To-Base, OR, Star Pattern)
* Trigger Grip "Clip on" Picatinny rail
* Laser Grips (I assume these DO NOT exist as Crimson Traces Site doesn't have them)
* Grip Plugs (Should be "Flush" with base of Grip so as not to interfere with magazines that cover them)
* Steel or Tungsten Guide Rods OR a Laser Guide Rod
* Upgraded Seer and Seer Spring (Like the one APEX makes but for .45)
* Striker Block and Striker Block Spring Upgrade and kit (Like from Apex but for .45)
* "Carry Spring Set " Upgrade (Like from Apex but for the .45)
* Trigger Return Spring Upgrade
* Hardened/Failure resistant Extractor Upgrade
* Grip Extension for Magazine like the 10 round for the 9mm or the Pearce Grip for the 9mm and .40
* Upgraded Magazine Followers (Possibly Metal)
* Thumb Rest (these are available for the regular M&P)
* A Blue Gun/Practice Gun for training purposes, hopefully this one has a rack able slide and functioning trigger, safety, magazine and magazine release - an identical weight and balance would be ideal as well
* A Tekmat

This 45 shield is still VERY new to the aftermarket manufacturers and its suppliers... hang in there, there will be lots of stuff available for it, and likely by summertime. The aftermarket has to play catch up right now. This 45 shield is becoming VERY popular, same thing happened when the 9 & 40 shields came out. In the mean time, like someone else said, buy a bunch of ammo, and shoot the hell out of it.

I ordered 2 brand new 45 performance center shields, i`ll be in the same boat as you... my plan is to not worry about whats available right now, i`ve gotta shoot a 1,000 rounds before i will even carry them...500 thru each gun. But first, i`ve gotta wait for the dang guns to arrive... in the mean time, buyin ammo, lots of ammo.

AFAIK; that's a huge list of crap you mostly don't need.

Extra mags, holster and mag carrier.

Since it's your first pistol, don't change anything until you've shot it for a while, and learned enough to figure out what YOU need.

Get plenty of ammo, and attend a good training class.

Maybe sights, MAYBE a trigger return spring set, and the only thing I did was flat mag bases for carry purposes.

Yeah as I said I just looked these things up. Not really interested in getting these things, just exploring and learning about the possibilities out there.

Not my first pistol, just my first M&P and my first Smith and Wesson. Hoping that it is a good gun to introduce my self to that series or that brand.
