They got the glass almost all the way down to the top of the slide!

Also, once you get it all put together let us know what you think of the fiber optic and the red dot together in the same sight picture. Especially in bright sunlight.

One last thing, what does Galloway charge for milling the slide?
$125 for the milling

I like that circle dot reticle in your picture but the JPoint site says many pistol shooters find it too large.

Could you take a picture through the sight at a target or some other easily identifiable size object at say, five or seven yards so I can get an idea of how large the circle would appear?

I'm starting to get stoked about this.

Can you tell?

It doesn't bother me on a 5" gun. I only have a fiber front sight and a plain black rear.

Yeah I saw that before I ordered it. I saw quite a few reviews where people liked it o handguns, for the same reason I chose it...you can use the center for fine target shooting, and the full circle for faster acquisition (I think I said that before...sorry if I'm repeating...tough to get old lol)

I won't have the slide back until next week, but I will line it up with a target like I did in the original post and post here tomorrow.

Yup, on my 5L, I don't even notice the iron sights usually. I've been told that the fiber optic/tritium night sights I have one there might be distracting. I think with my vision and being unable to focus, it helps this. I really can't see the irons with my glasses on, and with my glasses off the reticle blurs out quite a bit.

Here is a pic at about 22 feet, just over 7 yards. The target overall is 12"x18" and the center red oval is 1.5" x 2". The camera pics up the flare around the reticle more than my eye does.

Hey, post some pics of your mill job before you mount the sight on the gun if you would. Some of us would love to see a step by step set up when you get yours back.

awww geez, there goes the neighborhood

I will post the pics. I opted to not have it coated where they mill it. It's stainless and covered by the optic...and if I can't live with it, I can get it coated locally. Just FYI, not sure how it's going to look, bare stainless where the milling is.

Also PaPow, unless you have a reason, I would get the Shield RMS instead of the Jpoint. They are made in the same factory, and the Shield has had a few upgrades from what I understand. I had an Amazon credit that I wanted to use, so I went with the Jpoint. Don't quote me on it, but I think the Shield RMS is aluminum rather than polymer, and has updated electronics, which I think is longer battery life. I think the Shield RMS is a little better looking also. If I didn't have to use the credit, or if Amazon had it I would have gone with the Shield RMS.

That looks damn near perfect.

I've got Truglo TFX sights on my Shield and with or without glasses they are hard to pick up but the cheap optic on my AR stands out beautifully.

Thanks for the picture.

I am planning my mini-Rowland Special now.

Had a range day with my Sphinx SDP Compact with a F/O front and 10-8 rear.

I had forgotten how much I like that setup.

I just ordered that setup for my Shield project and I think I'll swap the TFX sights to another of my M&P's.
