Shield M2.0 version

What are the chances S&W makes an M2.0 version of the Shield? I think they eventually will so keep it up to par with the standard M&P line. But I would imagine that would be at least another year out. Thoughts? Rumors? Discuss!

what would be the point of a shield with a replaceable grip? you going to make one a compact and the other a fs shield?

Personally, i would love a different grip on the shields... they feel like i`m holding a friggin butter knife in my hand. It would be nice if they at least had a bit more palm swell built in.

I've been wanting a 4 inch Shield for a couple of years and I am soon going to turn my 9mm into one.

Well being that the SHIELD was designed and intended to be a CC weapon I personally dont want or think SW will "grow" the pistol in size. Already have the FS and Compact lines so why muddy up another line.

The shield is a great gun as is and does what it was designed do well (conceal) if you want fatter grip interchangeable BS and larger gun go to a FS or Compact model.

Hopefully SW doesnot F up a pretty much perfect pistol for the job it is intended to do.

MY 02 YMMV.

You can send it out for stippling and get the same result as the M2.0.

I`ve tried MANY slip-on grips, they move under recoil to much for me.
I just want the shield to come with grip inserts like their other M&P guns.

Stippling does nothing to the frame other than change the feel of the surface.

My guess would be, they will take the other shields and change to the shield 45 texture, and possibly front serrations, which I believe the M2.0 is. Whether they will call it 2.0 or just continue as the shield with a different texture who knows.

My reasoning is that, the shield 45 was directly before the M2.0, so I can't imagine it getting a makeover anytime soon...and if it only has the different texture...seems like the other shields will follow suit.

M2.0 didn't add interchangeable palmswells...the predecessor had them. Given the the predecessor had them and the shield does not, I would think they wouldn't add them to the shield...just keep it smallish. They kept pricing on the M2.0 inline with the predecessor, and adding palmswells I would think would have to increase the price of the shield.

I get what your saying steve, and i do agree for the most part of it... BUT, if S&W really listens to their customer base, they might just do it to say they have a new shiny penny to sell you. Price means nothing if you want something bad enough. I would have no problem paying a little more for something if its going to fit me better.

M2.0 Mag help

Hi all, new to S&W, and guns for that matter. Never owned a gun, used them in military though. Question: I live in Cali (I know, big collective groan), and I am receiving a "gift" from a parent in Tenn of a S&W M&P 40 M2.0. Problem is, they only sell them with 15rd mags. Cali has 10rd mag limit. I need to know if the 10rd mag for the M&P 40 1.0 version will work with the M2.0? I have read some forums that say yes, S&W dance around their direct answers and will not commit to an answer. Does anyone have any insight into this? Thanks

I have pretty large bands and I find other than needing to use only extended mags in my shield(s) the rest of the "grip fit" is satisfactory for me.

I have no idea, an if I did I'd be out buying the winning lottery ticket rather than talking to you But it can be fun to speculate and BS about it.

I see a couple of other problems...at what point is the grip getting wide enough that it's close to the 9C... I think it's only about 1/4" now. and once you approach 9c width, why not just make a double stack and add the capacity, which they already have in the 9c. I think if I were going to direct the design team, and I wanted interchangeable sizing, I'd do longer and shorter, to adjust distance to the trigger, and leave the width alone.

But I still don't see it happening...although I'd be happy to be wrong..
