New Shield 9

New member with new Shield 9mm. I finally made it out to an area for some range time today. 350 rounds later and I am very happy. No issues at all. I was very surprised how accurate this little gun is. My Son in law who shoots a Glock was also impressed with it.

Welcome, I am surprised how easy the little shield is to shoot as well, it's not as easy to shoot as the 4.25 9mm but, it;s darn good for it's size.

Welcome to the forum. You will find great people here with some great advice. I've been around firearms longer than most have been on this earth. But believe me when I say, thay forgot more than I will ever know. A year ago I was a total Glock fan until I purchased my first M&P, the M&P 9mm Shield. Now I do not own a Glock and have two more M&P's a 45 acp Shield and the new M&P 9mm M2.0 with the 4.25 barrel. Not sure why or if this makes any sense, but after making the switch to M&P' from Glock my accuracy has greatly improved. And with these old eyes I need all the help I can get.

Glock was just a passing fad. Once people realize that there are better fitting guns in their hand out there, like the M&P, and shoot more accurately, the glocks will finally fade away. And to prove my point, the military chose the SIG P320, not the glocks (bye-bye glock) Had S&W done a interchangeable frame like sig did, and had a better trigger`s, it might have been S&W who got the military contract for $580 million, instead of sig. My hat is off to sig, they got it right. Though i`m a sig lover, and i own a few, i just dont care to CCW them... they`re just to big to conceal. All my sig`s are just paper punchers and home defense purpose guns. You cant beat a sig for quality AND accuracy.

Hey PaPow,
You may not like Glocks but they sure aren't going away.
I am not a super fan of them, have a 19 and 43, but there are a lot of fans out there who love them, including a lot of LE Depts.
They are here for the long term.

I don't think after 25+ years and 30 some variants you can call glock a fad, I'd say it's more of a force to be reckoned with... I'd probably be more into them but, I shoot lead bullets cause I am cheap so I've never really pursued the glocks...

I`ve owned and still have several glocks... you aren`t telling me anything new. My wife even carry`s a glock. I just hate the way they feel in my hand... they feel like a 2x4, and they look like a brick. The M&P`s fit and feel FARRRRRRRRRR better than ANY glock i`ve ever owned and shot. I`ve had MANY a glock fanboys at my gun range, and have turned them on to different guns other than glocks... especially when they were gettin their ass`s handed to them shootin next to me shootin my M&P`s.

And, i`m a reloader too, i shoot lead... glocks suck at shootin lead, even though i still have a few, and have bought aftermarket barrels so i could shoot lead out of them. But my glock collection is slowly going away... there are better guns out there to chose from now... that wasn`t the case when glock got popular. Thats the only reason they got the fame they had... they were new back in the day (1980`s) when NOBODY else was making plastic guns. Then came all the fanboys... that kept me away from them for a long time. Glocks became like harley riders... if you ain`t got one, you ain`t shit. I never fell for it, and still dont. And lets face it, whens the last time you saw glock come out with anything that set the world on fire. Their flaming fame is dieing... they`ve had some huge problems with their guns since the Gen3, and it still isn`t resolved.

Glock is not a force to be reckoned with anymore, they`re just old news.
Take SIG SAUER for example... the P320, is now the force to be reckoned with.
Swappable frames, slides, barrels... so many options to choose from. Glock, not so much.
