Range report new Shield PC

Put about 130 rounds down range. Zero FTF OR FTE. I installed Magguts Springs in both magazines, and I'm glad I had the extra rounds. The only disappointing thing was that it shoots low. At 7 yards, I was aiming near the top of the 6 inch target to hit bull's-eye. I was able to hit steel gongs at 20 yards, aiming at the top of the gong. Is that common?

You didn't mention what weight of bullet or how experienced you are with pistols. Very lightweight bullets shoot very low, something many people don't realize. Also see error chart attached.

Good call John... i wish people would give more details on themselves as shooters and type of ammo being used. Also given the fact, that its also a brand new gun as well.

Not a new shooter, but generally shoot 1911s. I realize I'll need to get used to the different trigger feel and I'm not crazy about the hinge trigger. May have to get an Apex. I was shooting 115 gr cheap Federal and American Eagle ammo.

All my M&P's, including the Shields; shoot POA=POI.

That said, I shoot 115gr bullets in all my 9mm's, and 230gr bullets in my .45acp pistols.

115 gr is standard weight in 9mm, so no super light bullets there.

Sometimes somebody shows up with some gimmick ammo, like a 70 gr bullet and wonder why they can't hit anything. But the advertising said it really destroys a roast beef! They work really well if you get attacked by a roast beef.

I would LOVE to be attacked by a couple pounds of sliced roast beef, especially if it brought along his buddies Hoagie and Au Jus or Mayo/Mustard.

First time out with my M&P 40 C I had similar results. I had to consistently hold way at the top of the target. I practiced dry firing over the next week. When I went to the range the following week POA was POI. It wasn't the pistol, it was me. I found that it was me pulling the trigger.

I have little doubt that's the problem. I did some dry fire last night with the shield and a 1911 and could see the difference.

Sounds like you need to let the gun break in, and you getting use to it.
Its a new gun too... gonna take both of you to work it out.
I dont think the APEX trigger is the answer just yet.

I always bench rest a new gun, so I know the gun is accurate and anything off target is my fault...and it is always is my fault. Every gun I have ever owned mysteriously fixes any accuracy problems the more I shoot it.
