Pearce mag extension issue

I have installed 2 extensions on my 2 mags that came with the PC 9mm Shield. My issue is, both mag's now are very difficult to seat into the weapon with the extension. With the slide open or closed.

Has anyone had any similar issues, and or know of a fix?

If I slam the mag real hard I can get one if them to lock in now. But, pushing the mag release is real difficult to release the mag, way more than usual.

Obviously the mag extension spring is too long and does not have space to compress enough to insert when filled to capacity.
Likely need to trim the spring or simply return to stock mag/rd count.

The mag springs are stock. All I have done is swap out the base plates with the extension plates.

Ok, thanks for posting pic`s... that helps alot... i couldnt figure out what you were trying to do.
What you`ll have to do is, take the extended base off, sand down the flat side a little bit until the base itself is a tad shorter.
This will allow the OEM mag spacer to sit lower to the extended base, thus letting the mag go deeper into the mag well of the gun grip.

Added Edit:
I wouldnt remove any material from the flat edge of the OEM mag spacer. If you do, do NOT remove to much, or mag will be more loose.
I have in the past, for friends that had tight fitting mags, sanded a little off for them... i wouldnt unless its already to tight.

He didnt change anything but add the pinky extension to the 8-round OEM mag. Seen this many times... the pinky extension is thicker than it needs to be. The easy fix is to sand the flat side of the extension until it lets the mag fit into lock-up.

PaPow, why are you so smart.I was just going to tell him to do that, because I had to do it to mine when it was hard to do. That was the first thing that came to mind. Why would you use it on the 8 round mag unless you were a gorilla? Maybe that's not politically correct.

LOL...thanks for such kind words Gene, i dont claim to know much, just learned alot over the years on my own i guess. These kinds of things bring me back to watching people trying to shove a square peg in a round hole...lol. Just some basic common sense, and its amazing what you can do. I am a machinist tech for one of the largest companies in the world, you`d be surprised at how much you have to fly by the seat of your pants to make stuff on the fly to keep production rolling. Usually, things come very easy to me... 10 seconds to figure out whats wrong, minutes to fix it. Thats why they pay me the big bucks... i get it done. My life long quote when people hire me, and i quote, i`m not your problem, i`m your solution. And i say that with no ego, its just plain facts. I have probably fixed more guns than most people will ever see in their lifetime.

As for the mag issue here, its the only thing that came to my mind after seeing his pictures. If it worked BEFORE he put the extension on, then the problem is the extension. Mill it off a little material until it works right.

Yeahhhhh i have to agree with the gorilla hand theory... and i surely wouldnt worry about political correctness... it is what it is...lol. I find the 8 round OEM mags to be just about right for me. I did add a pinky extender base to my 7 round mag, and i only use that one on my gun range when i shoot targets.

PaPow, no wonder you can fix guns & put in triggers, I designed & built homes for 40 years . I heard Churchill's grandson say " Political correctness will kill America " & he is 100% right. We didn't have any of that silly stuff back in WW2 & we went from less than a 2 million man military to 16 million & won the war in 3&1/2 years.

We only had 137 M population then & raised a 16 M military. Now we have 350M & have less than 2M in all branch's of service. Thats less than 3/4 of 1% & we had nearly 12% back then. I'm off on a rant, sorry.

Gene, dont be sorry for the rant, people NEED to know past history. Its not taught in school anymore... the schools want to teach kids that america is the bad guy... thats why we have nothing but snowflakes for kids today. Its coming around my good friend, and its biting us ALL in the ass now. I am very happy that i`m on my way out of this world instead of on the way in. I cant imagine living around a bunch of thin skinned little whiners that WILL destroy our once beautiful country. One can only hope an astroid hits this planet and end the stupidity. God knows, most of us has already lived in the best times of our country, its all down hill from here on out.

Sorry to get of topic guys... my eye`s are old, but it dosent mean i`m blind, to all the things i see going on.
