Unexpected Holster Fit for Shield .45

Hi all, first post here, picked up a Shield .45 today and, after ordering both an IWB and OWB cheap Kydex holsters this morning, I decided to check my old gun stuff drawer tonight to see if by chance I anything that might fit my new gun.

Well, lo and behold, a Don Hume JIT (Just In Time) Model 36 slide holster fit PERFECTLY! This had been used for a Glock 19, 22, and 23, and has an open bottom so it would fit multiple barrel lengths. Fits very tight to the body and is a great concealment holster. I've got a Wright Leather Works Predator ordered for my new Shield, but it's 8-10 weeks out. Did I mention that this fits absolutely PERFECTLY?!

So, anyone looking for a leather, high ride, open top holster that's relatively cheap (20.99 on LA Police Gear dot com), and fits the Shield .45 perfectly, just order a model 36. I've been using these for years for my Wilson Combat 1911 and Sig P938 and they have worked well.

Also, I shot it at the range today, 70 rounds total, 50 Federal 230 gr. FMJ's and 20 Remington Golden Sabre 185 gr. +P JHP's, all fed perfectly, but the +P's ARE a bit snappy for my 60 year old hands coupled with the very thin grips. I've got some Speer Gold Dot 230 gr. Short Barrel JHP's ordered that I will likely carry with it, provided they feed okay.

Gonna try to post some pics, we shall see how that works out...

Welcome aboard!

The JIT style holsters are good holsters and are a very common design. I have one for my M&P40c only made by Gould & Goodrich and it works great! I can also carry my M&P40fs, M&P40 M2.0 and my Sig P229, and in a pinch I can even carry my Shield40 in it.

My daily carry IWB holster is made by Safariland/Bianchi it's their Model 135, I have one for my 40c and one for my Shield 40. Nice and comfortable holsters.

My Shield 45 carry holster is a kydex OWB made by Panther Concealment, specifically for that model pistol; so no exposed slide or muzzle.
