Here is a source for replacement fiber optic rod in a rainbow of colors for very low cost by the foot or yard.
Note: Dawson's sights take .04" (1.0 mm) rods while some other makes take .06" (1.5 mm) rods.
You don't need the preformed inserts either. Cut a 1" or so section of rod and form a button on one end with a lighter. Insert the rod into the sight blade, trim the excess and use the lighter to form a button at the other end.
