I know what you mean. For some reason I also shoot compact pistol models better then full size models. The M&P 40c is no exception. Had some pretty good groups at 15 yards my first time out yesterday.
It may be weird but it is true -> I have found my 40c to be more accurate than my 410. I think my 40c is tighter, but that is only a guess. At the range this weekend I shot out the center of my target quicker with my 40c.
The only thing that is more accurate is my custom made AMT 1911 .45. But it cost me 3 times what my 40c cost.
Now that's interesting. Friend of mine (LEO) had his own Glock - .40 caliber mid-size of the three offered (Baby Glock, His midsize, Full Size). With one PD he had to provide his own pistol (the Midsize). He transferred to another city PD and they issue their own full size Glock.
He doesn't do as well on the range with the full size as he always has with his midsize.
Go Figure....
Now - that makes me wonder if it'd be the same for me...
Only way to know is to one day get hold of and shoot the M&P .40C
One thing that has proven to be true is that barrel length has very little to do with accuracy, it decreases velocity but the accuracy is unchanged. Another thing that feeds into the mix is that the shorter sight radius of the compact will tend to increase sighting errors, so the average person will normally shoot better with the longer sight radius of the full size pistol.
Count me as one. One of my first pistols was a G22. Shot it ok. Just thought I was an inherently bad shooter
. Then I bought a G27.
. Turns out it was not me  . I also shoot my Beretta compact L and officers sized Kimber better than their full size brethren. And I have fairly meaty mitts for a 6'4" 250lb guy. Sorry I can't make the comparison of S&W's. Still waiting for my full size 9 to arrive.
Nats says he has meaty mits, but how many of you guys that report shooting better with the compact have shorter fingers?
