Good morning,
I'm looking for sights for an M&P 9c for carry; currently I just have the stock sights with three white dots, and I'm trying to decide between getting fiber optic sights or getting tritium-based night sights. I've only shot no/low light twice, and never tried either fiber or tritium sights. I could use some input from more experienced shooters.
My local range runs monthly IDPA matches that seem to always include a low/no light stage. I've just been using a cheap ICON Rogue and Rogue II flashlight for these.
- The first one I shot was "low light"; it was bright enough that I had no problems with the stock sights, and I figured that going with fiber optic sights it would be even easier. I don't recall how I held the flashlight, but there was enough light in the stage I really didn't need it.
- Second one I shot was "no light". I initially used the FBI technique, and found that I could easily see the sights but shooting strong-hand-only hurt accuracy. Half way through the stage I tried to switch to the Harries technique, which was more stable but I couldn't see my damn sights because the light was too far forward.
Would either night or fiber sights help with this? I'd imagine that night sights would just wash out against a well light target, but would fiber optic sights get enough light to them to actually be visible if they were essentially in the "shadow" of the gun?
(Yes, I know I should buy a better flashlight also)
