Blacked out rear with warren front FO sight. I filled in the rear dimples with JB weld so it's smooth. Then I painted with trimclad flat black. $40 and work / look great.
On my Glock 21 I use AmeriGlo sights...GL-434. It has an orange dot with tritium insert front sight and a black Hackathorn rear sight. These sights are what I call combat sights...they are made for quick pick-up to put them on target fast. The rear sight notch is wide to facilitate this. These are not target stocks, but they are not designed to be. I like them.
I have a set of hackathorn specials on my glock 19... I do like them but after shooting a buddy's gun with the big dots really wanted to put a set on of my firearms... Eventually I will have the same sights on all my pistols, either the hacks or the big dots.
Personal preferences are what they are. That said 10-8 front night sight and rear sight plain U-notch combination is now my preference. I've utilized other sight systems such as Novak, Warren-Tactical, and XS.
If I could snap my fingers and have new sights installed on my Shield, it would be Ameriglo Pro I-Dots, with the Lumilime ring up front. Since its more of a pain than that, I decided that it would be more hassle than it was worth, so I painted my front dot flo-orange and blacked out my rears, and have been happy ever since, til now. After picking up a new Sig SP2022 with factory night sights a month ago, and seeing first hand how great they work, I'm back to jonesing for the Ameriglo's for my Shield. Even though the Sigs are traditional 3 dots, I'm still partial to the 2 dot setup. I just may have to bite the bullet and get it done.
+1 on this! The fiber optic during the day paired with the tritium at night is a match made in heaven. The slightly dimmer yellow rears make for VERY quick front sight acquisition.
I really like the post-and-dot sights on my Sig P226/40 and I put BigDot sights on my M&P45 and like them a lot too.
Unfortunately I'm stuck with 3-dot sights on my issue pistol and they don't work right for me...I don't understand how they work for anybody. The tiny frontsight dot floats around in the rearsight notch and I have to raise the front dot to the top level of the rear sight to make it shoot to POA. My company's trainer/armourer is unsympathetic, and I can't get permission to change anything....
Ameriglo Hackathorn's. Work great for my aging eyes. Have them on all my M&P's and on the Shield. The set has blacked out Serrated Rear. Front sight with green tritium night sight and orange outline
I like 3 dot Novak style sights. I may install 3 dot Tritium night sights in the future, but I'm happy with the factory 3 dot sights on my four M&Ps.
