Can't decide what to do.

I have a Shield 9mm, but a buddy has offered to trade a NIB M&P9c. I know all the arguments for both sides of the deal, but can't make up my mind. What would you do?

Well, being I really like my 9mm Shield. I wouldn't trade it for a 9c.

IDK, he just does. He just paid the layaway off, and is waiting on it to ship.

I'd keep the shield (unless the shield is second hand to you) , the warranty may not transfer over on the M&P as you aren't the original buyer of the M&P

I'd make the trade.

I carry my 9c more than either of my Shields, particularly these days, when carrying a hi-cap with hi-cap reloads is prudent.

You can also buy a replacement Shield for less than the cost of a 9c.

I doubt we will be of much help as some of us prefer Shields and others of us the 9c. I wouldn't let the warranty thing be the deciding factor as S&W will honor it either way.

My question would be, what are you going to use the gun for? Concealed carry only, range use only, combination? I was considering the 9c before I bought my 1st Shield. I liked the versatility of the 9c. But, I wanted a smaller gun to carry concealed, as at that time my state didn't have open carry. Now I have two Shield but carry my revolvers more. Ironic! Hope this helps!

I have a couple of Shields, a 9C, along with a lot of full size pistols in the M&P line. I also have a bunch of other pistols from other manufacturers. That being said, I carry my Shield 90% of the time. I carry various other pistols during the other 10% such as, my full Size M&P 40, my sig P 229 in 40, on of my 1911's, I also have a Gen 3 Glock 19 that i like real well...

All f the above being said, the Shield is easier to conceal, especially during the summer. The 9c holds more rounds....I think that the Shield is more comfortable to carry.

If you are a lefty, go with the 9c. If you want higher capacity, go with the 9c. Both conceal well.

At this point in time I would trade my Shield 40 for a 40c without a second thought.

I went into the gun shop planning to buy a 9C but after comparing the 9C and the Shield I bought the Shield. The Shield grip is slightly taller and fit my hand better. I didn't like the loss in capacity but I have since added Magguts kits to my mags and I now carry 9+1 so not much difference. I made the choice once of a Shield over a 9C so personally I would keep my Shield. It really comes down to which one you want. If you have never handled the 9C I would suggest you try one out and see which one fits you the best then keep that one.

Agree with this completely...however, make sure you don't agree to anything until you feel the trigger on the 9c. If you're carrying concealed and the shield is uncomfortable the 9c will be worse depending on what holster you're using on body. For high capacity though, forget the shield. One spare mag is the least I'd carry, and you can use the full size mags as a backup mag as needed. Just my two cents.

Yes; for the 9c, not the Shield.

Just a bit of clarification for those new to the M&P lineup.

Neither is in the least uncomfortable for me; but then, I'm used to carrying real pistols, not mouse guns.
