Missouri Members help

So I am new here, if this is the wrong place I apologize. I am also new to M&P's. I just purchased a 2.0 40 cal 5inch model. I really like everything about the pistol and have already made the decision for this to be my night stand weapon. My question for Missouri members is where in the Springfield area can I purchase night sights and have them put on? None of my local shops keep night sights in stock, of course they can get them but don't put them on. I am in Springfield from time to time. Any info on places to have them installed would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forum. I don't know about Springfield, but I too live in a small town and do not have a lot of options for purchasing guns and/or accessories. In the past have ordered sights from Midway USA, Brownells, Optics Planet, Amazon.com, etc. if you don't have access to a sight pusher, and don't have much experience installing sights, I would d finitely have a gunsmith put them on. If you are getting tritium sights, pounding on them with a hammer and punch can damage the inserts.

Totally agree!!!! Not going to attempt to install myself, a very good way to screw up some expensive sights as well as the slide. I will check out Brownels. Thanks for the reply.

A quick Google search shows 3 gunsmiths in Springfield. Anderson Guns, Clark Craft Gunsmithing, and Tactical Armz. I would try one of those shops. They sound like they may be able to get the job done.

Many shops out there can take your money for what anyone can sell, few know how they operate and can work on them. Good Luck.

Gunsmith stocking Nite sights

I would be surprised if you find a gunsmith stocking night sights because of the vast inventory required. To get a feel for the size of this effort, log on to Dawson Precision and look at the varity of sights available for your particular pistol.

I think your best bet is to send your slide to Dawson or one of the other manufacturers and have them install the sights. That way you will have sights that match the height and width that came on your pistol correctly installed.

I measure the sights on the pistol and order replacements and install myself but I am a mechanic type and am willing to take my lumps if I screw-up the installation.

If you can't find a local gunsmith, I think there is a member on here that will or knows of someone that will install them if you send him your slide. Maybe he'll chime in or someone that remembers who he is will post up his member name.
