If I was doing it now, I'd get a Police trade in .40 off of Buds and a factory .357 barrel for like $89 on Midway. I know they still had them last week. No issues from my Storm lake conversion barrel. Mine shot a little low, but it did the same with 165gr. 40cal as well, so I put a shorter front ameriglo night sight on it for like $38 from Optics Planet.

not with a conversion barrel. you just drop it in your 40FS or Compact and you can shoot 9mm.
just have to buy 9mm mags.

that's a big reason i bought the 40. i prefer the 40 for self defense but for just a little extra money, i can shoot 40, 357Sig and 9mm in one handgun.

Ha!

I'll be buying a new gun soon, and right now, it's between a 357c and that new Mossberg 14" barreled 12 gauge "pistol."

I shoot ALOT..! The 357sig caliber is not cheap to reload, especially just for plinking alot like i do, the 9mm fits the bill much easier. Now if you buy the sig357 just for a carry gun only, its a pretty hot caliber as far as FPS is concerned...!
Well that sucks, sounds more like a in state store front monopoly than legislation with a purpose. You got ammo either way but can't go for the net deals.

Thanks, That is a great price on plinkers, on self defense rounds Underwood is in the same price bracket, uses the Speer Gold Dot bullet but gets a couple of 100 more FPS and more Foot Lbs.

I'm there for those plinkers next time I order a case! THANKS!

I see 40 ammo around for my lifetime, perhaps the choices will be halved but there are some many used 40's out there going cheap, endless cop trade in's and so forth.

I hope good 357 sig ammo is around while I am, I won't reload so I am sol if it's gone, it was ahead of it's time, it really looks like their has been a slight resurgence the past 12 months, I see more threads on it and people shooting it than I have in the five years prior. The HK guys are hitting it hard.

Still not enough though. Still a niche caliber. Misunderstood, most loads dumbed down to be a bit pointless. The marketing and roll out did not do the round justice.

I think the slight resurgence is due to the rise of the 9, what have we got for mainstream semi-autos now, 9 and 45, many including myself want a small framed hi cap not a big frame (owned a Glock 21 one time, one of my first purchases).

Nothing wrong with a 9 at all but some of us want the same sized firearm with a bit more punch, with the meltown of the 40 I think 357 sig became the super 9 in some folks minds and the market grew slightly.

There really does need to be a few choices of calibers in the smaller frame market, I don't expect the 357 sig to fill that void, I expect it will be something new adopted by many LE departments to get whatever it is to take off (seems to always work that way).

If the 357 sig came out now with the 40 declining it may have stood a chance at mass long term vitality.

Well, That's my thoughts anyway, take them with a grain of salt and a shot.
