My wife loves shooting my Shield 40, and has her own full size M&P40.

I told her there will be loaded handguns in the house and you need to know how to use them if you have to.

On Saturday while I was buying a new safe to keep the ammo in she was busy buying her own handgun. Her purchase was delayed though so she has to wait a few extra days.

Damn bro, you gotta get her out there...!
I`m very fortunate, my wife has as many handguns (rifles&shotguns) as i do... she LOVES to shoot.
And she knocks the bullseye`s right outta the paper too. She`s usually the first one to get a deer too during hunting season a few years back. But we dont hunt deer much anymore, the deer ticks are very bad here, lyme decease is extremely bad here. Third time i was bitten, ended up with lyme decease myself... lemme tell ya, not a decease you want.

My wife's first target on her first day of her two day Threat Focused Pistol (one handed, not using the sights, drawing from the holster) course.

Thats very sad Bill... dosent she know that you might not always be there to protect her if your not around...??? She really needs to think about what COULD happen. Its not a very nice world we live in today. (thanks to OBOZO`S 8 worthless years in the WH) I guess some people will never know the reason why we love our guns. They aren`t JUST for protection.

That's kinda how I got mine to agree to participate in "real" training:

Her; but you always carry yours.

Me; but what if I need backup?

She hated the first 1/2 hour or so. After that, she realized what was going on, and what she was truly capable of.

She has no interest in going to the range "for fun;" but I pity the fool who has to face her in a gun fight.

She now understands and supports me in all the training that I participate in every year; and that's a BIG plus!

This year it's h2h and blade training at Lake Mary in late July, and Threat Focused Pistol at Daytona in November. Two fun filled weekends for sure!

She sure does!

When we were shooting the wall of bullets (actually a two person team skill, called "advancing behind a wall of bullets"), which is the final exercise at the end of the course, they were actually amazed at the speed of her reloads. She consistently had the full mag in the pistol before the dropped mag hit the ground. I got a lot of compliments about training her on that.

When I was working with her on some of the basics in the weeks prior to her attending the course (she'd never drawn from a holster before); she was able to consistently use the "auto forward" feature of her M&P9.
