Just say "NO" to Kelly Ayotte

In 2016, I hope we can all remember her vote on background checks. Shameful . . . She has to go. I'm embarrassed to say I'm from NH because of her.

Just say "NO" to Kelly Ayotte

Why? She voted NO I do believe. She is on the side of gun owners. Unless I heard it wrong no matter Im in TX so I cant vote for ir against her but if I heard the story correctly she is one of the ones on the side of the NRA and gun owners.
Id be ashamed to be from NH anyway.

She did vote no. Was the only Senator from the Northeast to do so. As far as gun control issues, I would keep her if I were ya'll...

You can't be that blind... do you know why she voted "no"... do you want to give up that new M&P you bought? I know I don't, nor do I need to give up any of my rights, I'm not the criminal. Would an extended back ground check have prevented any of these senseless killings? Do you know what else was in the "package" for the "no" vote she gave?

My original post was for the voters in NH, the majority of whom (including card-carrying NRA members) support universal background checks. I just picked up my new M&P 9mm Pro this afternoon and had no problems with the NICS check and I'm not worried about some blackhawk helicopter swooping down to confiscate it after having submitted the information. I didn't give up any rights by going through the background check and can't see what the objection to expanding it to cover the existing loopholes that allow people who shouldn't have weapons to acquire them.

You can vote in your state for whomever you want and post in the appropriate forum to advance your position. Again, my post was for folks in NH.

Thank you.

Amen to that. Let me help with some education. Liberals speak in code because sane folks would not vote for them if they say what they really want. I could give many examples but sticking to the subject at hand, "universal" background check is liberal code for gun registration. If the Democrats really want to do something constructive about this they would be asking the Obama administration why they are not enforcing existing laws by prosecuting background check violators. To answer is they don't want to enforce them because doing so will render the need for additional laws mute. Then they could not demagogue the issue and push for what they really really want, which is confiscation! Folks in NH should be flooding Kelly Ayote's office with "thank you" calls.

You may have posted this for NH residents but how your senators vote affects me and mine!

To expand on Mumblypeg's post.

With the laws in place, the federal government has attempted to prosecute less than 1/10th of 1% of the cases where a person attempted to illegally purchase a firearm. What makes anyone think that more laws will help?

Liberals want background checks that would include any transfer of firearms including thoese between friends and family no matter if it was sold or given as a gift.

The only way for this to work is to implement national firearm registration. With mandatory registration/background checks, the only firearms transactions the government will be tracking will be among law abiding citizens. i.e Who has guns and where do they live.

This will do absolutely nothing to reduce crime as criminals steal their guns or buy stolen ones and therefore will not register them.

History has proven that every government that has ever implemented gun registration has eventually followed it with gun confiscation.

Study the history of the gun control zealots in this country. More than one has expressed their goal as being the total elimination of gun ownership by civilians, even admitting it "has to be done in steps". Well universal background checks leads to registration which leads to confiscation. Those are the steps. In the end only the government and criminlas will have guns leaving the law abiding at the mercy of both. If you think fedzilla will take care of and protect you..., well ask a Native American how well that worked out for them.

In conclusion (I hope) we'll let the NH voters decide in 2016 whether Ayotte made the right decision. If her favorability rating keeps tanking then I'll stand by my original post.

Thanks for all your comments . . . most enlightening.

sounds like you just left to stick your head in the sand, in hopes that we'll disappear from this subject that really affects all of us. Youobviously wanted to slam Ayotte until you met with resistance...

Jeez . . . don't resurrect this . . . I'm never going to convince you and vice versa . . . Let the chips fall where they may in 2016. Let the voters decide because we're not going to resolve this here. I believe in the NH voters will make what I truly believe to be the correct decision. Tell you what: we can revisit this after the 2016 election and see who was correct in their thinking. If she's still in, I'll concede. If she's out, will you? See you back in November 2016.

Deal?
