Just sent my USPS money order off to KY Gun Co yesterday for a M&P9 Pro 4.25!

I'm Dave & I live out here in the PRK (Peoples Republik of Kalifornistan). This will be my first new pistol purchase in years - last was a S&W 4006 so that tells how long. Currently just own one other Smith, a sweet little pre-lock Mdl 60 .357 that I really like.

My bro bought a new M&P standard full-size 9mm a couple years back and I've been wanting one since. He had to buy an APEX action kit for his as the stock trigger was pretty bad but after that it was like a new pistol. Hope my Pro will come with a much better factory action as S&W states it should. Was going to buy a new HK VP9 but when I realized I was going to be spending over $1000 for the pistol with four extra mags, said F that. Found the M&P Pro at KY Gun for $500 with extra 10 rnd mags available for $25 each and here I am.

Question - anyone know whether the Pro9 comes with two or three mags?

Fire in the Hole!

Congratulations you made a good choice. The HK VP9 is a VERY promising gun and well worth it. You couldn't have gone wrong either way really.

Gunbroker: HK vp9 = $619 free shipping + ffl transfer ($20 where I live) = $~$640

M&P 9 FS = $450 + shipping$30 + ffs($20) = ~$500 + $150(Apex FSS kit) ~$650

For me the Apex kit is mandatory so it would've cost the same. The only downfall is the magazine costs for the HK.

Sorry can't answer your question on the number of magazines, but I THINK it's just 2.

I have a M&P 9 Pro as well and it came with 2 magazines. Of course I'm lucky to live in a state where I have the 17 round capacity. I'm not an expert in regards to triggers but I feel that it's pretty smooth, everyone who has shot it likes it as well. I almost got the standard M&P but since I was going to put night sights on it I decided to get the Pro version instead with night sights included and a smoother trigger.

I'm sure you'll enjoy it when you get it.

Welcome from Texas! :gathering: My Pro Series 9 came with two mags. Don't give up on the trigger if you don't like it at first. After a few thousand rounds down range mine has smoothed out nicely.

I just measured the trigger pull weight again when I cleaned it last week. It was averaging about 4.5 lbs.. Hope this helps! :)

Welcome from Wisconsin, Dave!

Enjoy the Pro when you get it. I don't know about that series but I have an M&P40 that I bought used out of police service & I also have an M&P40C that I bought new a year ago & the trigger is superior out of the box than the full size after thousands of rounds through it.

We'll expect a range report soon.

Thanks all for the warm welcome!

Went out and did a little shooting with my Bro this afternoon. Shot some clays with his Mossberg JM Pro semi-auto 12 gauge. Even though it only has a 24" barrel, it's pretty accurate on clays out to about 50 yards and being semi-auto, doesn't beat you up!

Also ran some 115gr FMJ rounds through his M&P. Really like the smooth trigger with the APEX kit he has but noticed there is virtually no indication when the trigger resets after you fire - is this normal?

Will be giving KY Gun a call tomorrow to confirm my payment made it and to ask when they think my Precious will ship!

Whoo Hooo! Payment is in their pocket and my new M&P should be arriving at my FFL sometime next week & ten days later she'll be released from jail to her proud Papa!

Answered my question myself that I had asked in my previous post about my Brother's pistol not giving any trigger reset indication. Have ordered an APEX R.A.M. kit for it that should fix that small issue.

Depending on how old your brother's M&P is you should see a difference in your new one, Dave. The triggers have been improved & there is a reset, both audible & tactile. Some say it's still not enough, but it suits me just fine.

gratulations on M&P purchase

i have had the pro .40 for about a yr now and enjoy the firearm very much. Picked up a Storm Lake conversion to 9mm for versatility. trigger pull supposed
to be about 4.5 #. I find the handgun to be very accurate and a pleasure to shoot about 1500 rds with no ffl/fte shoots every time.

enjoy!

Thanks Glenn!

My bro's gun was purchased in 2011 or 2012, before S&W started producing units with the improved trigger assembly? When I was talking to the Rep @ Apex about my brother's gun, I mentioned I had a new Pro Series on the way and they actually advised me to wait and see how the action suited me b4 ordering anything. That says quite a bit about the integrity of their Company!
