I joined a month or more ago but I didn't get a chance to introduce myself. I'm an older man who, while not quite a 'shooter', has a little experience with guns. I bought a Ruger Stainless Security-Six brand new in 1974 when I was 21. Except for a few rare occasions when I took it out to run a box or two of 38 wadcutters through it, it stayed by my bed. Recently, actually a couple years ago, my daughter began carrying a .38 S&W Bodyguard and my interest in firearms started to warm up again. So this last time when the winter Gun Show at the VB convention center came through, I packed up my old wheel-gun (after doing some research prior, of course) and traded it in for a new M&P9. I immediately bought a bunch of ammo, intending to take it out to the nearest range, but with one thing and another, haven't made it there yet. I have been practicing dry fire exercises and hope to get there in the next month or two. I've already learned way more about guns and concealed carry than I ever knew before. I have my CCL and hope I never have to use it except as a preventative. This Forum looks as though it has pleasant, thoughtful people on it and I've enjoyed lurking about a bit.
