NEW to forum

I am a 72 yo woman who has carried concealed on and off for at least 35 years. I own a 9mm S+W Shield, .38 S+W chief Special, S+W Bodyguard that is a 380 and a Walther .22cal for target practice. I carry IWB and OWB, and hope to learn from this forum. I totally believe we are all under attack possibility and therefore Carrying Concealed makes me feel safer. I practice at the gun club as often is possible. I carry a MA license as a resident and a Utah license as a non resident which allows me to carry in many other states with reciprocity. We travel and sometimes when in our Motor Home we stay in noncampgrounds overnight on our way to a destination. Again, carrying makes us feel safer although I do not know anyone who has been harmed in their Motorhome while traveling.

Welcome and good for you, your bio is unusual but I wish it was much more common.

Welcome from Central Maine! I liked reading your bio.

I think you've had your CCW permit for 1 year longer than I've had mine. Not unusual for Maine, but all I've use it for so far has been to dispatch a car struck deer and a very sick racoon. I'd like to see that trend continue for me, but you're correct. The folks who are supposed to be protecting us aren't (just the reverse) so it's up to us to do what we can for ourselves. BTW, I do NOT mean the LEOs and the military, they're doing what they can, but the LEOs are second responders and not first responders. WE are our own first responders.

Welcome...............I too held a Utah non res permit for reciprocity reasons.. After finding out that they will be having their citizens carry without a round in the chamber, I let it expire. Someone else will get my $$$$$$$$$$. I used to think that Utah was one of the front runners in conceal carry licensing, but no more.

Welcome aboard from Northern VA Sandie

I am sorry but I cannot help myself. Your post reminds me of the humorous story about the state trooper who stopped a 95-year-old woman on the interstate.

Upon checking her drivers license he found she had a concealed carry permit.

He asks if she has any guns with her to which she replied, "Yes, a .45 Smith & Wesson in the glove compartment, a .357 magnum in the console and a .38 special in my purse."

The trooper asks the lady, "What are you scared of?" to which she replied "Not a d**n thing!.

I applaud you Sandie and pity the idiot that tries to harm you.

Stay safe my friend.

One with a permit may carry with a round in the chamber.

Utah allows UNLICENSED OPEN CARRY OF A FIREARM THAT IS AT LEAST 2 ACTIONS FROM FIRING. For example, a semi-auto may have a full mag but the chamber must be empty.

PERMIT HOLDER MAY OPEN CARRY AS WELL, BUT THEIR FIREARMS MAY BE FULLY LOADED.

Welcome aboard, you certainly are a rare demographic. If some perp singled you out as a easy mark due to age I think they are in for a feisty surprise.
