New here. Shield 9 as CCW

Hello all,

An M&P Shield 9 brings me here. I came from Smith-Wessonforum but it seems not as active? Anyway, hoping to find more relevant info here.

The Shield 9 is my third pistol, first CCW after finding out a double stack wouldn't work for me.

EDIT: Never had much issues with triggers, but researching the M&Ps and finding Apex's heavily favored, I took a close look between the PC and non-PC version. Seemed not significant enough of a different so I went with non-PC... can't help but wonder about the PC after shooting several hundred rounds through my non-PC.

Welcome to the forum from central Maine!

I don't have one, but your Shield will make a fine CCW. They sure do feel good in the hand too.

Welcome to the Forum. I own a few Shields (wife, daughter, son, son-in-law, etc. keep getting away with them) so I keep buying more Shields in 9's and 40's....I put Apex triggers in my "stock" Shields. I recently bought a PC Shield and it has a pretty decent trigger, but, IMHO, I still think that the Apex triggers are better but not enough to upgrade if you buy the PC Shield. If I already owned a non-PC Shield, I would (and have) invested in the Apex triggers for all of mine. All of mine also wear the Pro I-dot sights.

Welcome aboard from Northern VA

The Shield 9 is my CCW. It is comfortable and easy to draw.

To me the Performance Center Shield's trigger is so good as a carry trigger (and a little lighter) when compared to a standard Shield's trigger that I doubt that many would want to take out their PC parts and exchange for Apex parts on a carry pistol unless one wants an even lighter trigger which using the right combination of Apex springs along with the standard trigger spring and Apex sear will allow. With that said, I have a new Apex Ultimate Striker Block plunger that I would love to trade for a PC striker block plunger. Both plungers are radiused in a similar fashion.

Howdy from Central Texas. In my case as well, double stacks don't work for me due to an old injury and arthritis. The Shield has worked out well for me. Enjoy yours.

I have a SIG938 and as often as I carry it I just can't justify another tiny 9mm. I might CCW it at most twice a year.

And just who the heck are you identifying as an old coot!? I thought I was safe without an avatar picture!
