Hello - New Shield 40 owner on the forum

Hello everyone,

Recently became an owner of a new Shield 40, and loving it so far.
Despite having large hands, the gun feels like a full-sized pistol to me, and it conceals well.

Mainly here to soak in some experience from other users and banter a bit about my new pistol.

A little bit about me

I've been shooting Smith & Wesson for a while, but only revolvers up until now, and they have always been my favorite revolver brand, so when I decided to get an auto-loader for concealed carry - I immediately knew I also wanted it to be from S&W.

I'm considering getting a full-sized M&P at a later time, but I have no real need for it at the moment.

I live in a peaceful and quiet area, so it came as a total surprise to me that I suddenly felt the need to arm up.
I decided to get a gun for every day carry when the neighborhood went bad recently, and a random drug-dealer making a client visit decided to pull a gun on me while I was taking out my trash (nothing else happened - I walked away and so did he).

Up until that point, I never saw the need for guns for anything other than hunting and recreational use or for work.
For the same reasons I've mainly been a revolver person up until now.

With plenty of available revolvers that are well-suited for concealed carry from Smith & Wesson's selection, it was a hard decision going with an auto-loader, but in the end I had to realize that my only self-defense training with handguns has been with various auto-loaders through my occupation, and I decided to trust my instincts and stick with something familiar.

Anyhow, stay safe everyone and have a great day.
