I answered 6-10...but was torn where I fit. I currently have four actual "firearms" by legal definition. They are:

Beretta 96 Centurion

M&P45

M&P40c

M&P9

I'm pretty sure that my family is about to grow to include a Sig P226 in .40 Cal...but that's not a done deal yet.

My other guns are not regulated by federal law. They are:

CVA 1861 "Navy" that I built from a kit at the age of 16 (I think that's what they called it if I remember correctly...it's a Colt 1860 Army with a brass frame vs. steel and a cylinder engraved with a naval scene)

A custom built reproduction .62 caliber flintlock longrifle circa 1765 style that I use in my reenactment hobby

A P. Webley & Sons Mark III .38 caliber civilian pocket pistol that I picked up in Afghanistan as a momento.

Here's the list--

Handguns:

M&P .40 full size

Ruger P89

Taurus PT1911 .45ACP

Heritage Rough Rider .22LR/.22WMR

Long Guns:

Ruger 10/22 (of course)

Remington 870

L.C. Smith Field Grade double barrel 12ga. (left by great-grandpa)

Ithaca Featherlight 20 ga. (great grandpa)

Two misc. single shot 12 ga. (g/g again)

Savage Model 12FV .223

The Savage .223 is my prairie dog poker, bought it specifically for a trip out to Kansas. Going back to KS next month and cannot wait. If you've never gotten a chance to camp out over a dog town with a rifle and 600 rounds of Nosler ballistic tips, you should really look into it. Cheap too (as far as out of state hunts are concerned.)

Would have to attach a spreadsheet for a list, but estimate 175, rifles, shotguns (2), and mostly handguns. :-)

Don't worry about getting rambo status, there's always something else you'll want, my gun cabinets full, my safe is full, I have my M&P 9 here by me on the desk, my 7.62x25 ppsh ak conversion is propped beside me against the printer I have some under the bed, I still want a saiga 12 but may have to sell the saiga .308 I was going to convert to 8mm to get it. Having more doesn't make you want less. I can honestly say I have no idea how many guns I have.

Well don't be offended if you discover that a lot of gun owners are a bit paranoid to admit that they own more than two. They might be accused of having an arsenal.
This is a loaded question to a lot of gun owners.

I got into trouble asking a (non-flying) colleague this question once. Here's the scene: This guy wore his Thunder Ranch baseball cap to work every day, he wore a 5.11 tactical jacket as casual wear, had NRA bumper stickers and stickers from every gunmaker out there on his car, had a Gunsite calendar at his cubicle, and carries a range bag in place of a briefcase. He left his NRA magazines and his "Guns & Ammo" subscriptions in the community reading pile after he was done (I didn't buy "Guns & Ammo" in months, thanks to him!) He also bragged at least once a week about his latest acquisition. He gave the single women at work unsolicited advice on which caliber to buy so they could feel safer going to the store at night. He was a good instructor and had shot competively for years, so he was as good as he claimed to be. In short, it was public knowledge that he loved guns, shot guns, and taught others to shoot them well.

I asked him how many guns he owned and he said I should never ask a gun owner that because it might encourage people to break into their house! I found it slightly amusing that he was offended.

For my part, I don't even put an NRA bumper sticker on my car, because I don't want to scream "gun on board" to anyone who sees it. I'd love to put a "Protected by Smith & Wesson" sign on my house, but I don't want anyone to know I have even a single gun that they can come steal.
