No rattlesnake goes in my pocket without a really heavy trigger pull (which I don't like) or a manual safety. Train with a safety and you don't have to think about it.

Personally, it depends...

I cut my teeth on the 45ACP 1911, so a thumb safety has been part of my life from the start. Most new firearms owners aren't willing to make the time to get fully accustomed to their firearm before starting to bet their lives on it, so I typically suggest a new buyer not get something with a manual safety. The main times I'd suggest a manual safety would be either in "off body" carry or Deep / "Junk" carry.
