The reason for the 3 on my list is this. I already carry the P220 in .45

I love the M&P, but don't want another .45, so that leaves the two remaining options.

I put the 220 on the poll list to see how you guys rate it. That's all.

During my time, I have carried on duty speaking, here goes:

S&W 5904 9mm (piece of junk issued gun)

Beretta 92FS 9mm

Glock 21 .45

Glock 22 .40

Sig P220 .45

In that order.

About a new platform every 3 yrs.

I googled the P220R and all it came up with was a compact carry version, and all had the rail. Sig has a confusing system of id'ing their models, and all of the photos showed a more compact version than the original P220.

How do you rate the P220? It has been on my list but have not purchased. I have shot several and liked them, but never owned one long enough to form an opinion.

If you are looking for a new version, go with the M&P fullsize 9, higher cap, cross compatible ammo with the MP5.

Here's the break down on the 220's.

Original full size P220. No rail.

Then came the P245. Compact version.

Then they added a rail. P220R. Full size.

Then P220R Carry. Same as the M&P 45 Midsize. The carry has a rail.

Then the P220 compact. Essentially the older and discontinued P245.

Personally, I LOVE the P220 platform. But, make certain you order one with, or put in the SRT (short reset trigger). Then you're golden. Otherwise, the trigger sucks.

I was shooting it today after a class we had on building searches. I don't think I can or should go away from the Sig.

The 'Push' of the 45 is so smooth compared to the snappy .40 and to me, even smoother than the little 9.

If you don't have a 220. Get one. It's one of the best out there to launch a 45.
