9mm 5inch Pro or Long?

This is a discussion on 9mm 5inch Pro or Long? within the Polls forums, part of the Smith & Wesson MP Forum category; I'm interested in getting one or the other. I'm leaning towards getting the Long and Apex installed right away. Any helpful info would be appreciated. ...

I'm interested in getting one or the other. I'm leaning towards getting the Long and Apex installed right away. Any helpful info would be appreciated. I own a 9c and love it for CCW. I want to use this purchase for starting out in competitions. New gun owner, and I will be new to competitions, so please understand if the question seems that way. Thanks!

Whatever is cheapest since I'm changing out the sights and putting in Apex trigger parts anyway.

If you go with the L, put a few hundred rounds (like 500-1000) through it first. You might be surprised. I have the FS 9, 9L and the 9Pro. All were tack drivers right out of the box and got better the more rounds I put through them. Mine are all stock and shoot fantastic.

Ditto... Until your trigger starts to become an issue between you and 1st-3rd place in Production... leave it stock. The Pro Trigger is fine. Hell, the new basic triggers re twice as good as they use to be! If you're moving right into Limited Division, then put in an Apex FSS. It's FAR superior.

The Pro's rear sight is fine for competition. I run the factory Pro rear in my Limited Gun. I prefer a narrower front sight, which I swapped out with a Dawson.

Buy a Pro, change the front sight to a narrower version, and then shoot it a few THOUSAND times... And THEN swap trigger parts if you need to.
