My wife will let me get an assault rifle, but I don't want a AR right now. I want an MSAR or Kel Tec RFB but won't be able to afford one for a while. And I don't want my wife to change her mind. So, I narrowed it down to these two remakes from Century International Arms. Both have had good reviews and have served as their perspective countries battle rifles for at least 25 years plus. So, your help in deciding will be appreciated.

There's so many elements of the above post that bother me I don't even want to post... but I will...

LOL...

So I'll stay neutral, and just say: Buy either one of the above for fun, AND then buy an AR if you want to buy a reliable/accurate/serviceable rifle.

Unless you're wife is giving you the $800-900, then let her pick...

JW

By Definition, unless you're buying a select-fire variant (semi-auto/full-auto) it's not an assault rifle.

My vote goes to the HK. The roller-delayed mechanism if far more accurate than the Galil. Plus there are a ton more options and surplus parts available for the HK. Thats my .02

My wife didn't want me to buy a rifle but I did anyway.

I bought a new Tactical version of Rugers Mini14 with conventional style stock. I am pleased as punch with the purchase. I'm old school (M1/M14) and never have liked the AR types. Most of the AR types my range buddies have don't seem to want to run.

Reiverman, many of us aren't in the position you're in and that's what you're seeing for replies.

Guys, many of us are in our later years and have $ to burn, others are today where we were 40 years ago. Please don't piss on their parade. Some folks can only afford what they can afford and that's not a put down. They're shooting and have the right idea. Would we feel better if we persuaded them to buy something that would take food out of their families faces? I know I wouldn't.

I didn't start off decades ago with the guns that I buy today, I worked up to them. But I still have many of the guns I bought back then because they work. If those rifles in the poll had been available back then I might have chosen them instead of what I bought way back when. Yes I still have my early serial # mini-14, but at best it's a light duty rifle.

I didn't vote because I know very little about the rifles in the poll. But no alarm bells are going off in my head regarding them. I've read good things about the CI imports and had a Canik handgun (TP9SA) from them. It was a good gun and a great value. There was a minor problem with it initially (stripped Allen screw head in the rear sight), but they took care of it very quickly.

I'd take the Galil, especially if you can get it in 7.62 x 39
