All of the above, it's a Smith & Wesson, and it's American made.

When I was looking for the "perfect" pistol I swear I had at least 10 different Glock fans swear I would love them, but I just couldn't get used to the grips after renting a couple.

Held my first M&P when I was taking my Concealed Carry test and fell in love.

Ergonomics. I have never encountered a pistol that felt better in my hand than an M&P. Of course the reliability/shootability factor is big too, but not really such a unique factor....I love to shoot my Sig226, but it doesn't feel as good.

My favorite part

I love how the M&P fits in my hands, just this week I got a M&P 45ACP, love this pistol, recoil is smooth, i also got the trueglo green neon glow sights for front and rear, I think M&P is above glocks due to how their built to fit your hands

I haven't shot mine yet, but I can definitely agree with the form and fit of the M&P. (anything is better than the brick I hear people referring to as a "Glock") I am 6'2" 180lbs and my oversized hands barely hang over the end of the magazine, but I will wait to fire it before I decide to invest in the X- grips

Oh the Xgrips rock! If you have full size mags available the Xgrips are a no fail. P.S. My favorite aspect of M&P's is that they are fully American made. I like everything about the pistols but before they were available I might have bought an XD were it not for the "Made in Croatia" stamped on the side.

2006 9fs model with 18k+ rounds thus far (I know, not really a lot.) Aside from sights, everything is stock. At approx 15k, I replaced the recoil assembly and trigger return spring. Original striker assembly is still going strong. What's not to love!

Ergonomics AND dependability. I'd rather have an ugly gun that shoots everytime than a pretty one that I wouldn't trust my life with. Not that I think M&Ps are ugly. I even think Blocks, err Glocks are decent looking. Those M&Ps sure feel good in the hand for a fact.

I bought a Glock first (wasn't really as accurate as I hoped and didn't feel right in my hand.

Then I bought an XDM. Better, and I was satisfied with them for awhile.

Then I picked up a S&W at a gun show and it fit my hand so well that I knew I had to try one. Now I have 2. The accuracy, again, isn't on par with the 1911s but I still like the S&W better than the glocks or the XDMs.

The glock and the XDMs never see the light of day. The M&P is under my arm just about every time I go out of the house.

Ergos. The only thing that I've shot that comes close is the S-W 99.

I tried a wide variety of brands, sizes, and calibers of handguns. Actually decided on the caliber first by shooting 6 different Glocks, then the frame size based on the application (full size for home defense, since I couldn't imagine myself packing heat). Finally tried 7 brands of full size 40S&W pistols, of which the M&P40 was a clear standout.

Feel of the grip in my palm, the way the beavertail presses on the web of my hand and how my finger rests comfortably on the trigger, to say nothing of the low bore axis design... Perfect. It's also a much more beautiful weapon than any other I had seen (until the Caracal, which I also own).

We're very happy with the M&P firearms we've owned so far, all 17 of them (and counting).
