Shield Magazine Size Carry Preference

Just wondering, what is the preferred (or primary) size of the magazine carried in Shield owner's guns? Are you carring the smaller or larger capacity mag in your Sheild? I can see a situational value in the smaller magazine, but I'm wondering what user's preferences are. I have larger hands so I opt for the 7 round mag in my 40.

The 7-rounder really doesn't add much in the way of concealability, whereas the better grip on the 8-rounder adds a noticeable accuracy advantage, particularly on follow-up shots.

I carry the larger capacity mags in both my Shield 9 and my Shield 40. Both conceal just as easily as the small ones on my frame.

I only use the 7 round 40 magazine due to hand size. I have a never loaded 6 round magazine I'd like to trade for a 7 round magazine.

The part that prints is the grip, extending the grip negates what you gained with the thinner (lower capacity) firearm. If you're carrying a Shield with the extended magazine, you might as well be carrying the more versatile compact with a 10-12 mag and the shorter grip.

Wonder why they include the larger capacity mag then? I canít say I disagree with you. But other factors can contribute to printing, like body type, clothing appropriate for time of year, sheer neglegance and wear location. One might not print in the winter with a sweater or jacket vs. the summer. The smaller magazine has its value. Separately, I appreciate the thickness (or thinness) and weight differential fully loaded, which can lessen the physical impact and comfort of carrying in general.

7 rd mag in my 40 always no issue with printing if you position it properly. I have only used the short mag 2x at range dud not care for feel of gun when fired using it so i stick with extended one.

I have 4 of the 8rd mags and 1 7rd for my Shield 9mm. I use all of them at the range so I don't spend all the time loading a mag. When my holdster comes in I will be usig the 8 rd mags all of the time. I am getting the Crossbreed Super Tuck. I will get the mag carrier for 2 mags later.

I own the 9c and shield 9. I conceal the 9c with a 12 round mag and carry a backup 12 rounder when at work wearing khaki pants and polo shirt. I carry the shield 9 with the 8 round mag while out with the family because of the slim design and comfort; not the lack of grip extention and printing. I recently ordered an OWB kydex holster for the 9c to start carrying (concealed) when out with the family and will carry the shield less when it arrives.
