WOO HOO, AR Parts are here.

I like to set goals. Last year I decided to build myself some AR's. It was something I had been wanting to do for a long time, but bans and other BS was hampering me.

I built a nice 16" stainless bull barrel with a DPMS lower last summer. In Dec., I had planned on building a simple M4 flat top, mil spec. Sandy Hook happened and I was able to grab my upper on short notice. But when the mad money built up again, the lower components were sold out.

I have been needling my local AR shop for a while. Lowers have come and gone before I showed up. Then I realized they have a list! I put my order in for a DPMS lower and a parts kit 2 weeks ago and they called me to tell me it has arrived. This weekend I will have a complete M4 flat top AR.

The next goal is a 16" 9mm carbine.

WOO HOO, AR Parts are here.

I'm also interested in getting a 9mm carbine upper. Have you had any luck finding parts for reasonable prices.

No luck as of yet. I did see one on M&A gun parts website last week but did not note the manufacturer.

Pics of the latest build, a standard M4, alongside last April's project, a bull barrel.

Where did you guys end up getting your parts? I'm being nosy and would like to know how these builds are coming, given the total lack of available parts.

I ordered mine from JSE Surplus in Cape Girardeau, MO. They have a website that probably still shows most components out of stock. Just create an account and add part to cart. Checkout and they will ship as they come in.

They receive stuff every day, but fill online business before putting remainder to stock the shelves.

Complete guns are out there to be had at pre Sandy Hook pricing again and parts are starting to flow at same price. There should be a flood of those high priced guns that were purchased during the scramble coming later this summer.

I hope that the butt holes that were buying them to rape people get stuck with them forever or lose money. Lol

I'm building my own ar at the moment and if you look you can still find good prices on parts. My BCM bcg was 175 or 180 shipped I got my lower for 220 at a local shop I really like. I know that price is high for a dpms lower but I like to support local business. My dpms upper was 130 and cmmg lpk was 75. Just need the bcm barrel, magpul acs stock, daniel defense free float quad rail, bcm charging handle, gas block and gas tube plus magpul mbus flip down sites. I ordered a eotech hhs 1 for it through a friend who has a in over there. Including optics its gonna be around 2100 for the complete build using good quality parts.

I'm in CT. I bought my lower right after Sandy Hook at around $200. Ordering an LPK tonight from Palmetto Armory.

I know waiting is terrible when it comes to gun related stuff -- I hate waiting -- but I think I might wait a bit before buying up the other parts. I'm hoping that prices will go down and supply will increase because there any hopes for a federal AWB got shot down.

I stopped by a local shop yesterday and he had many boxes of Federal 550 junk 22lr that still sells at Wally World for $15. His price with a limit of one box was $46. I laughed at him, asked why he even bothered to put a limit on it.

He does not deal in used guns either, he can not make any money on them.....

There was a shop I went to in January that was selling Federal 9MM FMJ for $50 a box. It was the same junk at Walmart. Ridiculous. Before the "madness" struck, they were selling the same stuff for $19/box of 50. Still, more expensive than Walmart.

The kicker is that this store also tried to sell me a single off-brand Pmag for $60 in January! Good thing I stocked up before the "madness".... Obscene.
